Scientists demand removal from Heartland's global warming denier's list
The Heartland Institute, a conservative organization funded by the fossil fuel industry, released a list of 500 scientists that supposedly denied human involvement in climate change. The Desmogblog contacted 122 of those on the list and within 24 hours, 45 of them called for their names to be removed. Almost all state that their research leads to the conclusion that anthropogenic greenhouse gases are responsible for climate change. The Heartland Institute was in the news recently because they sponsored a conference for the climate change deniers where they had to pay folks to speak at the conference.

1. I wonder how these scientists wound up on Heartland's list.

Did they just add them? Or, did they scan the literature for statements that expressed concerns about some aspect of Climate change( e.g. shoud the confidence interval be bigger)? The old "out of context" misrepresentation.

2. According to the article at DeSmogBlog.com
the names were added to a list of scientist whose work "contradicts the overwhelming scientific agreement that human-induced climate change is endangering the world". The article was written by a Hudson Institute director and Heartland Senior Fellow Dennis Avery and is based on his own conclusions and not the conclusions or believes of all the scientists on the list. http://www.desmogblog.com/500-scientists-with-documented-doubts-about-the-heartland-institute

4. I think this quote from a scientist on the list makes it clear.

They have taken our ice core research in Wyoming and twisted it to meet their own agenda. This is not science."

5. Oily bastards - can't find enough lying scientists so they lie about scientists.
The fossil fuel industry could well bring about the end of the human species, and most of the rest with us. They will happily roast their own children alive in a greenhouse hell.

6. You can almost smell the desperation from them.
The next president will be someone that admits that man is responsible for climate change. Barring a huge scandal, the congress and presidency will be controlled by our party. It seems like they are making a last ditch effort to derail regulation of green house gases.

Maybe I've got my tin foil on too tight, but I've noticed an increased number of threads here at the DU where folks are sort of supporting the deniers. There were several threads in GD, science, and environmental forums over the past couple of months with links to neoLuddite denier blogs or news about it being a colder couple of months at the end of this winter. The good news is that this appears to be their last gasp. With Shrub Inc out of office, they'll have little support from government.
