No it wasn't porn... It was far, far worse than porn... it was

The 2000 Bush inauguration - I kid you not. We put that debacle on video. I was horrified but it brought back this memory - THERE WERE HUNDREDS OF PROTESTORS! Somehow I had forgotten this But free speech was not to be - they fenced off the protestors but all was not lost...they were throwing eggs! Egging the chimp. It was bee-u-tee-ful!

1. AND, they were right. I remember the Bush family trying to act like they didn't see them.
If anyone came by in the parade where there was a really positive greeting, or if it was a Texas unit, they came to life and were happy. Otherwise, they stuck their elitist noses in the air and put a false smile on their faces.

Gosh, that seems so long ago.

2. It wasn't long enough
ago... I mean I want these 8, long years to be nothing more than a bad dream that we can collectively wake from....

My son was so cute...

He said

"Mom, look what I found... It says "2000 Bush Inauguration" You have the idiot on an old VHS tape. You have your own, home made tape of the chimp!"

I love that kid!

24. I saw them also! The media would sometimes cut away from
those shots to show us something else.

If it had been a perfectly beautiful unseasonably warm and clear day in DC, Shrub still would have had to ride in a car with the windows up for his protection. They couldn't risk a stroll down Pennsylvania Ave. because he was already hated so much.

8. None. But isn't it
gratifying to know that the media's come around and atoning for past sins by providing fair and balanced coverage of this year's presidential campaign, focusing on the issues that matter and treating all candidates equally? :sarcasm:

4. It may be some of the last remaining evidence from the 2000 election
that not all of us folded and/or accepted the SCOTUS decision. There are many of us who believe that the 2000 election was the most important election in US history.

I blame the media. They helped the GOP create the Bush mythology and they have been responsible for helping to defeat the Democrats and fair elections.

by the time he is gone.

I had so many distractions - My son was born in '99, my daughter in 2000 - I was very politically active too but...

Yes

I had forgotten the glorious egging of the limo. I am going to transfer the VHS to DVD and post it on YouTube... Just the egging part.

And listening to the jackass doing the commentary explain to the home audience that Bush and his party weren't showing the sign of the devil, but the "hook 'em horns" or whatever from Texas.

Man that was an awful day.

21. I was struck by how god awful gloomy the weather was.
I mean it was near noon and it was just dark and dismal. It was like nature itself was reacting to the breach of what was happening. A chill ran through me and I turned to my husband and said something on the order of.:

"This isn't just going to be a mistake. He's going to cause and do some horrible things we can't even imagine at this point."

31. Kind of looks like the 2005 Cornauguration.
Same kind of day too. Gloomy and overcast. Even the heavens hate the Failure Fuhrer.

There were five layers of police a mile long, and yet somehow a snowball made it to Cheney's limo. BOY you should have seen them cops scramble. They pepper sprayed a group of hundreds with a fire hose. You had to go through a massive security check upon entry (you should have seen all the produce they confiscated. Could have made a farm market out of it).

The Bewsh supporters were SO ridiculous. These people aren't worthy of being exhibited at a ZOO. They couldn't speak coherently, spouting talking point upon talking point, rightwing catchphrase after rightwing catchphrase. It was sickening.

37. Hundreds?!? -- Try Over 30 Thousand -- Largest Since Vietnam
Even the "organizers" underestimated, as there were just as many people "on their own" as those attending official organized events. We circled the (formerly) Supreme Court city block, three deep. That was over 10K alone.

The streets were littered with nothing but protesters. It was rare to even see a "supporter." Nearly empty bleachers lined the parade route (well, it was drizzling) and they held the only non-protesters. Except for the overflowing "free speech zone" section - one raft of bleachers, anywhere near TV cameras was secured for ticketholders only.

They spent weeks (and huge sums) planning their ego-protection operation:
For the most part, activists called yesterday's protests a success, saying they had managed to get their message across despite some of the most stringent security measures taken by police at a presidential inauguration. More than 10,000 officers from 16 law-enforcement agencies, including the Secret Service, the U.S. Park Police, and the District of Columbia's police force lined the streets beginning at dawn.

Even afterward, protesting continued locally everywhere he went. They finally gave up and started just taking him to military bases. It has been the same since the very beginning.

This never-elected, never-legitimate war criminal has never been able to do a simple public appearance.

Scalia can pout "So There!" and Cheney can snarl "So What?!?," but there will never be common agreement that he was ever a real US president.
