RANDI RHODES RETURNS TO XM RADIO LINEUP

Washington, D.C., April 30, 2008 – XM Radio announced today that talk radio personality Randi Rhodes will return to the satellite broadcaster’s programming lineup on May 5. The new “Randi Rhodes Show,” which is syndicated by Nova M Radio, will air weekdays from 3-6 p.m. ET on XM’s progressive political talk channel, “Air America” (XM 167), and will feature the edgy, liberal political discussion that has made Rhodes one of the country’s most popular progressive radio personalities.

XM’s Air America channel offers a mix of both syndicated and original XM progressive talk programming, including shows hosted by Air America’s Rachel Maddow and Sam Seder, as well as Jones Radio’s Ed Schultz and Bill Press, and Nova M Radio’s Mike Malloy. The channel also features the XM-produced “Left Jab,” hosted by David Goodfriend and Mark Walsh. Detailed programming information, including show descriptions and schedules, is available online at http://airamerica.xmradio.com.

No word on if Sirius Left will air her show yet; they do air Mike Malloy live from Nova M. Currently, a tape-delayed Ed Schultz occupies their 3 PM time slot.

This is a major loss for Air America, and their new "American Afternoon" show; it will only air on about 3 radio stations (WCPT in Chicago, WXXM in Madison, and WVKO in Columbus), and the Internet. Everyone else has switched to Randi. The only AAR shows that XM has now are Lionel, Thom Hartmann, Rachel Maddow, Clout, and This is America.

1. Haven't heard Randi since her first day because I'm out when she's on!!!
Edited on Wed Apr-30-08 01:22 PM by defendandprotect
I've had to listen to Air America --- and haven't learned much!

How is Randi and what has she been talking about these past two weeks?
Is it two weeks, or one?

Hope to catch up soon ---

Need to be able to tune in from my car ---
and I don't have Satellite radio.

2. Shoot.
I don't like her and I'm sorry she's coming back. I was hoping they would get someone else.

4. Glad to hear it. Now, can they replace "Clout" with something?
That guy is always trying to proselytize. He acknowledges that his audience includes 50% atheists, then spends precious airtime trying Christianize us. Please, leave that to the RW.

9. I'm not a big fan of Clout, but I doubt that Richard Green is trying to Christianize anyone
considering that he's Jewish.

But it's true that Clout never should have been a daily show. Weekends were enough. And XM should be running all three hours of Mike Malloy, all three hours of Rachel Maddow, and all three hours of Thom Hartmann. In their proper time slots (live).

16. Yes! I agree with your programming suggestions!
I'll add one - lose Ed Schultz! I can't listen to him for even 10 seconds.

21. I should've listened more closely - yes, he's trying to Judeo-Christianize me.
If I want that, I can listen to Faux News.

6. I wish XM would change the name of their progressive channel from "Air America" often confused

11. What they need is a second channel.
They have too much programming crammed into one channel, and as a result, they aren't even airing full versions of half the shows. They should leave AAR as it is (even though Thom & Rachel are really all they have left worth listening to during the week) and have the Nova M (Rhodes/Malloy) and Jones (Stephanie Miller/Schultz) programs on the second channel. Progressive America would be a good name for that.

13. I would go for that. But now that there is only one satellite radio company
i feel lucky if we get any progressive shows. since when are monopolies considered Free Trade?

22. That is so infuriating! If we had a real government, the merger would be blocked.
The re-monopolization of America is going to destroy us all.

15. They probably just use "Air America" for branding purposes
Even though they air a lot of non AAR programming, a lot of stations do this.

14. Well that's a relief. This dreck AAR has on in Randi's old slot is some of the worst radio
I have ever heard. And I go back a long way listening to radio.

The only hope AAR has of redeeming themselves is to give Sam Seder the show. It's a no-brainer.

19. Good to hear
As soon as Nova M hired Randi, I joined their Founders Club to get the podcasts, but it will be even better to actually listen on XM in my car.

:applause:

23. They can dump Lionel anytime they want to get me to listen...
Does anybody listen to that stupid little shit? He can't have very good ratings. To me Lionel is symbolic of Green's running of AAR. Or should I say the running into the ground of AAR.
