I Don't Hate John McCain

I didn't hate George W. Bush either, at first. GWB was appointed by the Supreme Court as my President and even though I thought that was wrong I felt I had no choice but to give him a chance.

In retrospect, . . . well, I guess I could have complained more. It wouldn't have made a whole lot of difference.

Now I don't hate John McCain. I do have to respect his service to our country which right off the bat makes him better than GWB, I think. I don't agree with almost everything he says. I certainly don't like the fact that he's positioned himself as GWB's heir apparent. I certainly do not want another 4 years of what Bush brought us and I believe that would be an absolute disaster.

But I don't hate John McCain. Not yet.

I'm thinking back to January 20, 2001. If someone would have given me a list of things that were going to happen because of George W. Bush, I think I would have raised my eyebrows a little simply because I would not want to believe it to be true, and I would be thinking that it isn't good to be so pessimistic. And I think there is a still a little of that in me to give John McCain the benefit of the doubt, if I have to.

But I am so opposed to the rightist ideology. I am so opposed because even then I could see how badly they were going to do us. As bad as it is now, it can get worse. It can get a lot worse. Believe it, because it is true.

We cannot afford another four years of this. We cannot afford a John McCain. Right now I don't hate John McCain, but if he is allowed to be our president I will hate John McCain, and so will you.

We are about to be looking in the rear view mirror at our worst president ever. Let's not give him competition.
