Update on Tomas Young

I posted about Tomas last night.

Tomas is the veteran in BODY OF WAR. He has been in a coma.

I just talked to a friend who went to see him at the hospital. He said Tomas was awake but incoherent. He has been in the hospital for a week and is not improving. They are still running tests. His illness began with a clot in his lung.

Tomas needs our love, prayers and support. Please send cards:

KC area DUers, we are dedicating our Sunday vigil tomorrow to Tomas. Please join us at Nichols Fountain, 47 and Main, from 4:00 to 5:00. We have signs and cards or you can bring your own. We will take the cards to the hospital following our vigil.

6. This is so so sad

He is such a neat kid. We are so proud of him. Last time we talked to him he told us he was feeling much better than he did when he made his film. Now this.

My heart aches for his mother. She has Tomas to worry about and his brother is still in Iraq.

I was in Wichita all day today and came home and am trying to watch this DNC thing on CSPAN. But I can't get my mind off of Tomas. :cry:

At the September 2005 march in DC, Tomas went by some freepers who were yelling at the marchers, calling them cowards, telling them to "swim to Cuba" . . . you know their drill. And Tomas looked at the most obnoxious one and yelled

"If I wasn't in this chair, I'd get up, come over there and KICK YOUR ASS!"

That's Tomas. He is one neat kid. :patriot:

I have heard from local bloggers and anti-war people from all over the area and a few others too. Talked to one who had talked to Cathy, Tomas's mom. He is awake but still unresponsive.
