What I did was erase the background from the bush image, rotated it, then resized it. I added a new layer on the background image, then pasted the bush image. I moved it into position, merged it with the top layer. I then adjusted the opacity so I could erase the bottom of the bush image to make it appear it was behind the ramparts. I re adjusted the opacity to make it more consistent with the background and then anchored the top layer to the background.

I like using opacity to clean up images. It makes all the difference when it's so clean.
What I especially liked is how you got the colors so close. He looks really good up there and very much belongs. Also, keeping him a little more sharp takes your eye right to him.
And besides all the tech stuff, it was a great idea!
