How about he goes and chats up the folks at VetVoice, Winter Soldier Vets, the members of IVAW, people who have actually been there who have shared their horror stories? McCain wants Obama to get some firsthand accounts/experience there, what better way?

And PS, he should do this very publically.

2. I'm sure he is going to do an overseas visit - Israel, Iraq, who knows where else -Afghanistan maybe
He wanted to do it in March but couldn't so the idea that McCain or the Republicans are pushing him into it is ridiculous.

4. Screw McCain is right.
McCain's been pretty quiet on this issue since Obama responded with a deft smackdown. Learned his lesson maybe?

17. He's supporting the troops after the truck was driven into the ditch; big
difference, msongs, that you obviously don't care to acknowledge.

6. I think he shoud put as many Iraq war vets in governmental
positions as possible.... barring PTSD victims. Most chickenhawks need to hit the door as well. We might have a saner take on things next go around.

7. Every time a bigwig goes to Iraq demanding to be shown what's
"really going on" over there.. everything probably comes to a halt and people are attached to his protection detail and disrupts everything else... to see what would inevitably be nothing more than a dog & pony show.

There may even be people in harms way that might not be if the civilians would stay home... Their mere presence distorts the situation beyond any possible real learning experience. There are better ways to find out what's going on.

9. Your right, those visits IMO
are a photo op/dog & pony show,it has to be a nightmare for the Military guys to provide security. It diverts their attention away from their mission and really doesn't do much in the way of giving the visitor a real look at what is happening there. The risk for the visitors is way to high for them to actually mingle with the locals and the lower ranks of the Military are going to be (under pressure of disciplinary action) on their best behavior. Translation of best behavior = Only say what the General wants the visitor to hear or see.

8. Before he makes that decision...
I think he should show a comparative ad showing McCain at the market a year or so ago and show that same market today. Remember when McCain bragged aboout how he was able to walk thru the market. (Never mind the strong security force protecting him) But today, Americans do not walk thru that market place. It is not safe.

14. I'm hopeful the Obama camp and others will have lots of ads
reflecting the reality in Baghdad vs. McCain's sunny optimism that's such a lie.
