Blue Dog Democrats?
I have mixed emotions about Blue Dogs. I think it's a good thing to be fiscally prudent, but during dire economic times such as these, shouldn't the goal be to stop flushing money down the toilet in Iraq and start spending on projects here at home? Are Blue Dogs helping or hurting by siding with the Republicans? This is a good article on history of Blue Dogs.

1. I don't even mind the economic stuff...
I can be convinced that some economic conservatism is not a horrible thing on some fronts and in some cases.

It's all the bullshit national security, faux tough guy crap that they also jump to the right on that gets my goat.

3. Me too.
With a stronger Democratic presence in the house/senate, the blue dogs will feel less need to play ball with the Republicans.

2. From talking to Repubs around here, some are getting ready to create some more Blue Dogs.
They don't want McC. They absolutely will NOT vote for HC. And they're uncertain about BHO. So at least some of them are going to hold their noses and vote McC and then vote the rest of the ticket Blue to control him. I had that straight from one "horse"'s mouth when he said that I didn't need to worry about McC getting us further into debt with Iraq and a new War in Iran, because "...the people won't let him." Translation, we're going to give him a Congress with a significant minority of Blue Dogs.

4. The problem is ...
McCain won't be the president.

I have been talking about people paying attention to these blue dogs because they are the ones who have been helping bush all along, and stifling anything the progressives have tried to do.

6. I've been saying it for months: Everything depends upon Grassroots organizing, not just for this GE
but also for the forseeable future. Who's in it for the long-haul and how well do they lead the Progressive charge against entrenched atavism and re-born DLCers.

5. A Democratic majority is impassoble without the 48 Blue Dogs
