Barack Obama Will Win This Election! The REPUBLICANS Have guaranteed It!
As I watched Barack give his speech the night of the North Carolina primary, I thought back on th last 7+ years of the bush mis-administration from the perspective with which I view everything, that of a husband and father.

Like most parents, when I look at my son I see a scientist, statesman, lawyer, doctor, entertainer or maybe a president. As all parents, I want the best of all things for my son and I want him to live his adulthood in a better world than this.

I am so sick and tired of being told by our leaders that we mist live in constant fear, quivering under our beds with they extra tuna, bottled water and duct tape we were told to put there during talk of terrorist attacks and pandemics. I am so sick of automatically ignoring what the white house says because they have NO credibility.

I am SOOOOOO sick that my son has spent the first 8 years of his life believing that "president" is a synonym for "moron".

On the night of the North Carolina primary, we heard Barack Obama give the speech that he has given many times this season, but for the first time in full confidence that the nomination was almost certainly his. I heard him again stating all of the obstacles that we face as a people that we "can't" do anything about. I heard him refraining "YES WE CAN".

My neigh on 53 year old heart was moved and I was almost in tears.

What sane parent does not want his or her child to grow up believing that the solution to problems begins with an attitude and belief of "yes I can".

I will predict right now that that many people will vote with the desires and dreams and love that they hold for their children and the desire for a president they can be proud of and who will inspire the young. They will do this even more when the alternative is a crotchety old bastard who is so intent to perpetuate fear and failure.

I believe that we will not only win this election, but we will win this generation. Hope is just too powerful to defeat, especially when it is a hope for our sons and daughters.

PEACE!

I hope I'm posting in the right forum, because I'm focusing on the GENERAL election.

I have believed this since the night of the North Carolina and Indiana primaries. I started the primary season as a Hillary supporter and caucused for her. At the Maine state convention, as permitted by our party rules, I voted for Obama. "Fun" is over, it's time to UNITE!

1. Yes. The Democratic candidate will win.
Pretty much everybody knows that. Gas is over $4 a gallon.

5. Careful, I am old enough to remember what people were saying in 1974 after Nixon resigned
"There won't be another elected Republican President for at least a generation."

A generation of hamsters, perhaps.

7. Save that thought for 2012.
Experts say that whoever is elected in November has a good chance of being a one termer like Carter.

Little chance that anyone can make a dent in the damage that Bush did within four years.

10. The only hope is if they come in with an overwhelming progressive populist congress.
The WH is in the bag for Barack. The key is to give him the legislation he needs to lead us out of the bush cesspool.

12. It will be good to have a Centrist back in the White House.
Hopefully Congress will help him fix the economic nightmare we're in.

I just want a Democrat in control when three SCOTUS members retire in the next four years.

24. If we had the early 70s media like Nixon did...
Bush would long ago have been impeached - by his own party.

If not, he would be at like 4% popularity.

27. I'm afraid I have to agree (though not with the "very LIKELY" part)
I learned my lesson in 2004. "They'll never vote this miserable failure in for a second term. No one, not even Republicans, are that stupid. They'll stay home, or vote for Kerry. Kerry is a veteran who can string together a complete sentence and who has not harmed this country in any way. Bush is a National Guard truant who talks like he's mentally challenged and who lied us into war. DONE DEAL."

I've seen the light. Republicans will vote for any candidate with an R next to his or her name.

At no point can we afford to assume we have this one in the bag. Obama is a better candidate than Kerry, but McCain is not a complete idiot like Bush.

This campaign needs to be seen by the Democrats as a battle.

28. This is NOT self-indulgence.
Having worked in campaigns since 1972, I'm realistic enough to know that the swiftboats are coming. Icertainly don't plan on sitting on my ass having a warm fuzzy for the next 5 months and allowing the smear to happen. Anyone knows that this is going top be one of the dirtiest campaigns in history. Obviously, the other side has nothing else.

In spite of this, I still believe that Obama will win this election. I see signs that the Democratic leadership has learned the lesson of 2000 & 2004 when they allowed nominees to hang out to dry while the rethuglicans attacked en masse.

PEACE!

20. Booby Kennedy told me in Oct '67, I would do great things
We would all do great things. I think its about time to stop making RFK look like a chump.

When McGovern lost in 72 I was heart broke. In 2004, when Kerry lost. I didnt get bummed or pissed, I planned to get revenge. I've worked in like 7 campaigns since 2004, I do not intend to wake up the day after election day 2008 and think there was some task I dint get to. It is not a time to leave anything on the table, its time to pull out all the stops, no regrets.

The time is now, to kick more republican ass than ever in history.

At 50, I dont have kids, but I'm doing it for MarianJack's kids, and everyone else's kids. Obama is calling for the ball, lets dump it into the post and watch Barack tomahawk slam it over McCains head.

Yes we mudder fookin can, you bet your ass we can. Bobby told me we would.

21. A Republican I work with said his household has four votes for Obama!
Edited on Mon Jun-02-08 02:17 PM by CANDO
His wife and two adult kids convinced him to go with Obama. They switched registrations to Democratic, he didn't. But he said he is so tired of the hateful rhetoric coming from Limpnuts and Insanity. One day it's hate for Hillary and the next it's armageddon over Obama. He's tired of it and will vote for Obama. I thanked him for sharing that with me.

25. Democrats didn't take Reagan seriously in 1980
and didn't take Bush seriously in 2000 or 2004.

So, I'm not counting any chickens before they hatch.
