I need political advice before Wednesday night |
|
Democratic County Convention is Wednesday night. I've been asked to run for two positions. The first is a chance to be a delegate this August in Denver. The second is a spot on the State Party Central Committee.
What do I do?

1. The chance to be a delegate may not come around again. |
|
And it's just down the road from you.
But what are your goals? If you would like the chance to change something or make a difference, the party committee would probably have more chance of that.

3. I would replace a retiring union member on the central committee |
|
In Denver I'd have a blast. I would also meet people that could help down the road if I run for office.

4. Uhm, central committee |
|
we ALL need you there. The convention is historic and I can certainly understand your desire to be a part of it. But changing this country is really the important work and you have the values and leadership skills to make a huge difference. But whatever you decide - CONGRATULATIONS!!!

7. Why can't you do both? |
|
In California's State Party Rules that would be possible.

10. I don't think it would be fair to take two spots |
|
Maybe not? I have to win Wednesday and then at the state convention for either chance btw. So no congrats just yet.

11. If you run for both and lose one you still win |
|
If you run for one and lose, you lose.
Double down my friend, I think you have some good cards.

There are many people who can be a good delegate. While this would be an exciting experience, someone else can do this just as well as you can.
But being on the Central Committee for your state actually having a voice, that is a position which needs YOU.
