Witness: Fake Doc Wanted to Meet Women
ATLANTA -- A man accused of impersonating a doctor during a ruse that even fooled his new wife faced a superior court judge in Fulton County Monday. The officer who arrested Eric Perteet, 27, at Piedmont Hospital testified at the preliminary hearing that Perteet admitted that one of his motives for pretending to be a physician was to meet women.

Officer Scott Jimenez took the stand and told the court about the arrest of Perteet on May 19. Jimenez said Perteet was first detained by security officers at Piedmont Hospital when hospital staffers said they spotted a strange man in sensitive areas of the hospital, including the intensive care unit.

Jimenez said Perteet was wearing stolen booties, a mask, and had a doctor's badge with his picture Scotch-taped on top. He was also carrying a hospital cell phone, pager, and a prescription note pad.

"He stated that he was also writing his autobiography during the time. He also indicated that it was very easy for him posing as a doctor to meet women at the hospital," Jimenez said.

As for motive, Perteet said he was unemployed and had nothing better to do on a daily basis, the officer testified. Perteet's wife of two months was in the courtroom listening as the officer said Perteet also admitted having an affair with a hospital employee. "I really just came because I never knew the events that led to his arrest or why he was arrested so I came to just find out actually what happened and I'm just very disappointed," a teary-eyed Tammi Perteet told 11Alive News.

Tammi Perteet said she plans to get an annulment, since her marriage was based on a fraud. Tammi Perteet said her husband even lied about his age and said his parents and children had been killed in an automobile accident.

2. And any woman can tell you there's no easier way to lose a woman
than to be a philandering liar with his dick hanging out all the time.

3. If he wanted to meet women,
he should have gone to church.

Or a Bill Clinton campaign appearance.

5. Why doesn't this story identify the fake doctor as a probable psychopath?
They make him seem like a nut but they don't name him for what he is. The article provides no education to the public about this condition. This approach is quite common unfortunately, http://pathwhisperer.wordpress.com/past-notes. Further he might actually be a pseudologic psychopath, a pathological liar who thinks there is no distinction between "real" reality and the verbalization of reality.

6. I've run into a couple of pathological liars in my day
They start out plausible, but they always push it a bit too far.

Often they start out with a heavily embroidered and transformed grain of truth.

I once had a blind date who claimed to be a professor of art history specializing in the history of Baroque and Rococco architecture and turned out to a a restorer of old houses.

A prospective student who claimed that he had studied beginning Japanese at the University of Okinawa and continued at Yale turned out to be a former G.I. who had been stationed on Okinawa.

That fake doctor may have started a pre-med course and flunked out or something like that. I bet there's some connection to the medical profession in his background, no matter how slim.

7. Pathological liars should be a more common topic, IMO
I'm happy to see forums and blogs discuss psychopathology/sociopathy more now, but pathological liars show up also. I always thought Juanita Broderick (Clinton accuser) was probably one, and now Larry Sinclair might be another. Terri Schiavo's husband's accusers (those who quoted him outlandishly celebrating her death) seemed to also possibly qualify.
