Who was the last democratic primary candidate that lost in one year and came back to become the Democratic nominee years later?
I know Republicans have done it recently. McCain lost in 2000 and is the nominee in 2008. Reagan lost in 1976 and won in 1980.

Lost to Ike in '52 and '56
Nixon on the Republic side also lost in '60 and then won in '68 and '72.
