A question nobody's seemed to answer yet...
who should be the Keynote speaker at the Convention.

This is usually a slot given to an up-and-comer, who also reflects a theme the candidate or party thinks is important.

My sense is we should reflect attention on our growing strength in the western "Red States", where we're sweeping up House and Senate seats and Governorships. A female speaker would also be a good addition to help with the Clinton wing of the party.

Some suggestions:

Gov. Sebelius (Kansas)
Gov. Napolitano (Arizona)
Gov. Schweitzer (Montana)
Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (NM)

Other thoughts?

1. Barbra Boxer.
I know a little too left leaning for some, but a strong Woman, and the time to change the politics in D.C. is now.

5. Caroline Kennedy
I know she's not a politician, but she's a woman, she's well respected, and she's a Kennedy. I'm not sure anyone who's not an office holder has ever given the keynote speech, but it would be interesting--particularly given Senator Kennedy's endorsement of Barack Obama and the similarities between the campaigns of JFK, RFK, and the Obama campaign (message of hope, change for the better, and shared sacrifice). Just a thought.

They're both running for the senate.

But I'd still go for Schweitzer. He is more down to earth.

15. Gabrielle Giffords would be a great choice
She spoke a lot at a thing I was at last New Year's--quite a woman.
One thing, however: she seemed to think she was from Arizona.........

It is probably against protocol, but I would love for Al Gore or Howard Dean
to be the keynote speaker.

19. She seemed to think she was from Arizona?
I believe she's a third generation Arizonan, and other than our Native Americans, there aren't that many here in the Grand Canyon state. Did I misunderstand your point re her thinking she was from Arizona?

25. YES! Al Gore would be a great one for that speech
for so many reasons I can't begin to enumerate them all but how we all love that man. Just would be great to see him again, speaking to fellow Democrats all over the country.
