Oh, and by the way, you are absolutely correct IF the Bushies go with the same October Surprise that they went with in 2004, which I suspect they will not.

They may suck at running a nation, butthey are second to none in human history in their ability to lie and propagandize. The powerful instruments they wield and the sophistication of the psychology behind it, makes them dwarf even Nazi propaganda. The Bushies have the ability to create much more total and effective False Reality Bubbles than the Nazis could ever dream of.

Point is, they won't use the same October Surprise again in the very next Phony Election if they are savvy in the dark arts of propaganda. Oh, there will still be an October Surprise, but it will be different than 2004's Bush-BinLaden Video Double Feature, I think.

I would rather be wrong about this. It would be the kind of major propaganda blunder and one of the few things that might jolt large numbers of people awake (naaah, who am I kidding, this is the Imperial Subjects of Amerika we're talking about here...but I retain slim hope in spite of overwhelming evidence).

I left the USNav in early 2004, 20 year half pay pension. So, I'm landbound now. Became a grandfather last year. My son-in-law leaves for his 3rd(!) deployment to Iraq in June. He's Army.

I don't agree about them sucking running a nation. It's becoming increasingly obvious to me that this is intentional. "It's not a bug, it's a feature". They want us bankrupt, militarily depleted, and staggering... and they might go so far as to throw the next election so they can blame the Democrats for it being all fouled up. Which they tried to do to Bill Clinton, but failed. Which is why they had to impeach him over lying about his sex life; they really expected him to be unable to clear up the mess they had made of things.

That's my opinion, your reality may vary.

5. Good point, and I agree. I guess I was just being glib and not thinking.

I agree wholeheartedly that this is an intentional sucking dry of the nation. I stil think that, even if they wanted to do right by the nation, they would suck at it because they have so little practice doing the right thing, so little practice trying to help or making things better. Even if they wanted to, they just wouldn't know how.

Also, congrats on getting the hell out of what is now a tool in the hands of evil tyrants (don't get me wrong, I am not dissing the US Navy as it was during the Days of the Old Republic, 1776-2000, but merely making a statement of unpleasant but relevant fact). Congrats on your new grandchild. My we leave him or her a world worth living in.

Condolences on your Son-in-Law. Is he planning to try and get out when his enlistment is up? Are they stop-lossing him? Or is he close enough to retirement that he is trying to "hold on" and make 20 himself? Or something else?
