Bush On Iraq War: "I Don't Care If It Created More Enemies"

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/06/03/richard-engels-book-war-j_n_104969.html

NBC News' Richard Engel, who in April was promoted to chief foreign correspondent, has written a book, released today, about the years he spent reporting in Iraq. The book is titled War Journal: My Five Years In Iraq, and it contains an explosive interview with President Bush. The president makes several controversial, some might say shocking, statements (from Muckraked):

"'This is the great war of our times. It is going to take forty years,'" (Bush told Engel). "Bush said in forty years the world would know if the war on terrorism, and conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, had reduced extremism, helped moderates, and promoted democracy."

- Bush admits to Engel that going to war was a decision based on his personal instinct and not on any long-range strategy for the Mideast:

"I know people are saying we should have left things the way they were, but I changed after 9/11. I had to act. I don't care if it created more enemies. I had to act."

9. He is heartless in a way that will go down in history.
Worst president ever...

..Iraq War and Katrina will be his legacy. More corruption than Grant will be his calling card.

15. is it really "corruption" when it's your political philosophy?
grant wasn't a fan of corruption, he was just too drunk, naive, and oblivious to realize what was going on in his own administration and do anything about it.

shrub, on the other hand, believes that the entire country should be taxed and deceived for the profit of his buddies.

13. I am against the DP
but yes, the men who engineered this vicious and stupid war need to hang, preferably in the center of Baghdad.

That's the only way we can start to repair some of the damage they have done. It's the only way the Iraqis will trust us enough to let us help once they sort their government out.

12. You have just won . . .
my coveted "post of the week" award. If this doesn't sum up Bush perfectly, I don't know what does.

6. In 40 years...
I have strong doubts that this country will still exist in it's present form.
Consolidation is the way of the future - especially for former world powers.

8. Busholini, The Silver Spoon Sociopath wanted to overthrow
Saddam even before the SC selected him as Pres. He is a freakin' liar. 911 gave him the excuse he
exploited to Illegally invade Iraq.

11. It was ALL about proving he was a better man than his daddy
Goes back to the days when Junior was pissing on cop cars and challenging his pappy to go "mano a mano."

There's a LOT of blood on that boy's hands, all in the name of "proving a point"...to HIMSELF and no one else.

10. It seems that Bush
doesn't care about much these days. He doesn't even care that the GOP as a party is finished. Just last week, there was the issue of Bush campaigning with Mc Old. The Mc Old campaign would prefer that Bush doesn't show up.

Bush said, "well it doesn't matter if I appear, or if I'm against him that's all right" = meaning I don't care because it's over now.

"I'd like to put my feet up" = meaning I'd like to kick back and take it easy.

He knows it's all over. He just wants to retire at his ranch in Paraguay.:smoke:

16. Except Bewsh wanted a war with Iraq upon entering office.
9/11 had nothing to do with it.

Oh, by the way Mr Resident, when are you and your merry band of Fascoholics leaving OUR HOUSE???
