WHEN Mr. Obama is elected, here is what I fear....

I fear our reputation in the world will begin to be repaired.

I fear our penchant for endless war will ebb.

I fear our national malaise will ease.

I fear the Pentagon will not have the blank check it has enjoyed for too long.

I fear there will be strife. But it will be strife that leads to better ends.

I fear for the bigoted. They'll have to face their bigotry.

I fear for the cruel. They'll need to find new focus.

I fear for the old ways. They deserve to die.


I also hope.

I hope the American people will again realize the extraordinary potential they have and have always had.

I hope the Governments and the people of the world will begin once again, to look up to us as a nation and know we are good and decent.

I hope you all share in the inevitable progress that is headed our way.

I also hope that the next time I am inclined to wax poetic, I run it by a good friend first!

First, no one that runs for office in this country has a small ego. The meek don't attract attention.

As far as him being an empty suit, you're entitled to your opinion, but the alternative is an empty shell in an old suit.
