Obama's logo has the stripes horizontal and gently curving, with the light catching the bump and simultaneously evoking a summit and a pleasantly sloping hill.

Whereas McSame's logo, with its totally WRONG perspective and lighting, and vertical stripes, just makes me think of being in a cell and looking upward and out, through the bars. GITMO?
