Jury awards $750,000 to Bush protesters
CEDAR RAPIDS (AP) _ Two protesters who were inappropriately strip searched after protesting at a George W. Bush campaign rally in 2004 have been awarded $750,000.

Alice McCabe and Christine Nelson had brought a civil suit related to their arrest and later strip search at the jail.

An eight-member jury found Wednesday that the Secret Service took lawful action, but that a strip search at the Linn County Jail was not warranted because the women were being charged with a simple misdemeanor.

McCabe was awarded $250,000 and Nelson $500,000.

1. Good for them
Unfortunately the goons who performed this outrage are probably "STILL ON THE PAYROLL" ready to perform their street theater all over again.

12. Yep. The goons hardly ever suffer for their transgressions
The public takes it in the neck each time, but the thugs just go on and on til it's time for their pension.

10. That would be justice, indeed
Instead, it will be the taxpayers of Cedar Rapids taking the hit, and the corrupt Bush administration will move on in blissful ignorance.

But it's good to see that the First Amendment hasn't been completely disabled by this horrible climate created by Bush and his cohort.

16. I'm glad for them but just wonder why
one strip search was worth twice as much as the other ?
Twice as invasive? Twice as painful?
