MSNBC: Drunk mom driver lets her 1 year-old steer car! |
|
Edited on Thu Jun-05-08 10:43 AM by npincus
"Green registered .11 percent alcohol in her bloodstream.... her third DUI this year... her two other kids, 5 & 8, were in the car at the time... she said she was returning some dvds and thought it would be fun if the kid drove"
WTF?

2. My dad let me do that when I was about three |
|
but he had his hands near the steering wheel at all times in case I screwed up. And he was always sober. But that was back in the 1950s, when there were a lot fewer cars on the road.

4. We let our 3 yr old do this on our dead end street.. and yes, we are |
|
entirely sober and have our hands on the wheel and are travelling at the grand total of maybe 5 mph...

5. Mine was half in the bag and nursing a beer |
|
and my earliest memory of it was when I was about nine.
I couldn't see over the dashboard and just guesstimated where the road was by watching the opening in the trees overhead.
It was on a country road with very little traffic and he was there to grab the wheel, but I know his reaction time wasn't what it should have been.
I think this happens a whole lot more than anyone suspects.
It's a wonder any of us survive childhood!

I was sitting on his lap, and we were in the parking lot of his office building on a Saturday, so there were no other cars around. It was great fun! I've always been car crazy.
When I was learning to drive as a teen ager, I was taught to parallel park between trees on a vacant lot near our lake house. We called it "Don's Supermarket parking lot" (his name is Don).
He taught me a trick that guarantees a perfect parallel park every time, and it always worked, but I hardly ever parallel park so I've forgotten it. I'll have to ask him if he remembers.
Of course, no one had been drinking at the time, and we were in a controlled area without other cars or objects to hit, which makes a *HUGE* difference!
