7. It's tied to the mishandling of those nukes that were mistakenly
attached to an airdraft and flown across the US a while ago.

14. Just a guess but it might have something to do with the ...
air tanker deal. Wasn't there some sort of corruption problem involving McCain on that deal?

The nation's top two Air Force officials are resigning, military sources told NBC News Thursday.

Air Force Chief of Staff Michael Moseley and Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne are being forced out, the two sources said. Moseley, a general, is the Air Force's top uniformed officer; Wynne is the top civilian official.

Word of the resignations was first reported by InsideDefense.com and the Air Force Times earlier Thursday.

18. Or, was more than willing to send air strikes into Iran.
The Air Force is probably the most extreme, fundy arm of the forces.

Gates however, is not an advocate of war with Iran.

19. You know that's right!
WHAT THEY SAID: Roche and Sambur have been under scrutiny for their role in the Air Force's controversial $23 billion plan to lease tanker aircraft from Boeing. Congress has put that deal on hold pending several ongoing investigations.

WHAT THEY MEANT: SOME of America’s most senior military commanders are prepared to resign if the White House orders a military strike against Iran, according to highly placed defence and intelligence sources.

well publicized inspection, they failed to remove the religious bigots from leadership at Colorado Springs Academy. In fact, they support those assholes.

10. Correct. Here's a bit more on the story from USA Today.
Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. T. Michael Moseley resigned this morning at a meeting with Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the resignation of Air Force Secretary Michael W. Wynne soon may follow.

Moseley was summoned to an early morning meeting with Mullen to discuss a report on the Air Force's problems handling nuclear weapons. The report, by Navy Adm. Kirkland Donald, director of naval nuclear propulsion, convinced Defense Secretary Robert Gates that senior officials should be held accountable.

Moseley resigned in response.

At the same time, Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon England was dispatched to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base to meet with Air Force Secretary Michael W. Wynne, sources said, where he was expected to ask for Wynne's resignation.

15. article here
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24988491/

just a snip:

The Air Force Times noted that the resignations follow high-profile scandals and disagreements between with lawmakers and Defense Secretary Robert Gates over the Air Force's role in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Gates earlier this year publicly stated that the Air Force could dedicate more resources, especially unmanned drones, to those battlefronts.

16. I have a feeling there is more to this.
Edited on Thu Jun-05-08 12:25 PM by Tandalayo_Scheisskop
The Air Farce has some real problems: huge amounts of fundamentalist and evangelical infiltration in the ranks and in the academy that goes unfettered, with harassment of those who are of other religions and faiths or who(horrors!) profess atheism or agnosticism.. Huge budgets with incredible cost overruns. Procurement problems. I am sure there is more. The nukes were just a symptom of something more...concerning. Such as "why were they being moved in a configuration that could have easily led to them being used in a warshot?" and "Why is our son having such a bad go of it in the Academy?"

I would not be surprised if the decision is made to start moving people out and making *some* fixes before late Jan, 2009. With the very real possibility of major changes in the lay of the landscape, they are already lagging behind in the race to cover their asses on a lot of points.

26. Which corporation got the last big contract?
And would it have anything to do with Charles Riechers' suicide last year?

Please excuse the condition of the page I liked to, it is a wiki and I've been quite busy. If anyone wants to take a shot at cleaning it up, or adding their own info, you're more than welcome.
