The GW Legacy outcome may be positive

I believe that sooner rather than later guys with the "R" after their names are going to begin to distance themselves from GW and Cheney, etc, etc. Maybe it will simply be to save their own skins or to save their elected seats and continue a field of politics. But no matter. When this happens and it will, GW in a very roundabout way will get the legacy he so desperately seeks. He will have brought the country together, solidified it's unity and made way for real progress. Not due to defining policy or leadership, but due to the complete lack of it. We will all be brought together to clean up the mess. It is already happening. It is hard for me to say this in these terms ('cause they sound Troll-ish) but: Through absolute incompetence, lies and corruption, he may have been the best thing that even happened to us.

1. He unintentionally exposed Reagan's "conservative revolution" for what it really is.
(At least I hope so.)

2. Keep dreaming
The monumental amount of damage he's done has not lessened the power of the GOP- they'll take a few years off and take pot shots at Obama, and then steal another election, claiming that they represent the moral high ground.

Why do I think this? Where are the trials? Where is the tar and feathering? Where's the accountability?

Perhaps I am simply caught up in moving forward and am letting down my guard.

7. Going forwards in 1992 is exactly what led to this
if nobody faces consequences, there is no reason to continue to do this

Those who enabled the administration NEED to loose their jobs, period!

12. Forward is good
Now we have the monumental task of convincing Obama to actually do it.

Everyone is talking about how we'll fix various problems- but that has to start with the trials of these people and making sure that THEY ARE NEVER ALLOWED IN THE POLITICAL ARENA AGAIN.

That was the mistake of Watergate. Cheney should have been banned for "public service" along with the rest of of PNAC who were involved.

15. Yeah, I expect them to uncover an ex-girlfriend of Obama's
and use her against him for his enitire Presidency any day now. Expect congress to be johnny on the spot when it comes to any personal ethics violations that Obama may have commited as well, the committe hearings and investigations will cost tens of millions of dollars and they will think nothing of it.

6. Maybe that is how they report to the pollsters...
But if you sit them down, get a coffee or a few beers into them, you will discover that a lot of them are hurting and that they know why as well. But they are wedded to an ideology, one that just does not allow for disloyalty to Dear Leader and one that is built upon mindless hatred(yes, hatred) of Dems, a hatred that instantly accepts anything negative said about the Dems, no matter how bizarre it might be.

Lotsa young folks out there like that.

10. Interesting that you point this out
I work with many/mostly Righwingers and it never ceases to amaze me what they cling to. I make it my mission in life practically to point out where they go wrong and every time it gets back to:

Consistent reference to "Hussein", Jeremiah Wright, Hand over heart at the Pledge (I know National Anthem), the Flag-pin thing. If you ask them about issues like the War - they say we are there now, we can't leave now...Health care - "Socialized Medicine" refs....The Economy - not really sure, but higher taxes aren't the answer. Education...again not really sure.. etc. etc.

Regarding Obama, they think he is a Snake Oil Salesman. HRC - Just unfounded hatred..

The lame GOP talking points are ingrained in their skulls. I don't get it.

11. I know two people who still admire *
My sister-in-law and a 50ish friend share one thing in common -- they get 100% of their news from Fox News. I no longer react when one of them unexpectedly blurts out some GOP talking point, I figure they have Republican Tourette Syndrome and can't help themselves.

5. for the rightwingers, the outcome of the presidency was indeed
positive, look no further than the Supreme Court. Not to mention the public schools, very close to being destroyed with privatization and charters. The federal gov has police state powers. Mission accomplished.

there's a world of information we never had at our fingertips before...

13. I have $5.00 that says...
That this 25% of Dead-enders for Dear Leader have no computer and no Internet access, except for 10-20% of the deadenders who get the Emails for Meatheads and pass them out like they were faxes from The Almighty. Many abhor the Internet because they are afraid that teh pr0n will jump out of the computer and get all over them and they will catch child molestation cooties.

Attempting to talk sense to them or refute them is pissing in the wind. These are people completely incapable of listening to facts, much less reason. They find an identity and personal validation in their mindset.
