foreign policy insight
I just heard the most remarkable comment on NPR's "World Have Your Say." I wish I had heard the guy's name, but I actually had to get back to some work I had to do.

I always thought Condaleeza Rice was just stupid. What this guy said was a person sitting at a negotiating team has to have a clear idea of what his or her President really thinks.

And what occurred to me was, she wanted to believe in this guy so bad and probably thought she understood his thoughts.

She probably is still stupid, but now I don't dislike her so much.

As someone who has studied international politics and law, I would love to have that job. B-)

1. I'd like to use the term my friend uses:
"Condescending white rice"

Condi is neither stupid nor naive. She is the "kinder" face of Bushco.

She knew the agenda and how to get there. Mushroom clouds, anyone?

3. She is stupid
In the conservative sense of the word. I have encountered many with her type of stupidity. They may have an advanced degree, but before they got that degree, they bought into some stupid worldview that hobbled their thinking. C.S. Lewis is supposed to have been this formidable thinker, but before he wrote a single word, his mind was filled with Christianity and his view of the world permanently colored. Condi is supposed to be this "expert" on the Soviet Union, but her outlook was permanently imprinted by the Cold War, and she is like a screen door on a submarine when it comes to thinking about changing relationships.

Don't make the mistake of thinking that everyone who persevered through graduate school to get an advanced degree is smart. They can be just as stupid and pig-headed as anyone else.

6. You're pre-supposing she buys into the s*** she spews
IMO, She and Bush, who often get called stupid, are simply pretending incompetence because it's better to be seen that way than to been seen as deliberately throwing our lives away for their benefit.

I could be wrong, but so far 99% of the people who work for Bush have been exposed as con-artists of the first order- after all, they stole the presidency.

7. It's hard to feign incompetence
When you keep driving away from the pump with the nozzle still attached. Do that enough times, and you don't have to feign anything, you ARE incompetent.

I never thought I would ever understand Bush's perspective, but you've helped me to do so.

"These people are such idiots that they DESERVE all they get from me and more." *smirk*

2. I don't think she is stupid at all.
Like many "Bushies" they thing they are doing what is good for the party and the country, but in reality it's Bush, Cheney, and the neo-cons that want to start daddy Bush's "new world order" where there are two classes, the rich and the poor, nobody in between. It's really sad to see people get hooked on a dream that is so warped and corrupt. It's "brainwashing" at it's best, and sadly there are still about 28% of Americans who buy this crap Bush has been selling, Rice is just one of them!
