2. I think its a bad idea... Obama already does town hall meetings...
What he's talking about are debates, and those will come later after the conventions officially nominate the D and the R candidates for presidential contender.

4. Obama already does town hall meetings...
What intrigues me is the idea that they'd be traveling together. I'd LOVE to be on THAT plane! I know McCain is going to say he's "educating" Obama. Obama needs to come up with a smack down response to that one, IMHO...

3. Town hall
> Flogging this STUPID joint town hall meeting crap.

That's cause they KNOW what Obama is going to do to McCain! And how it's going to look to have a young, energetic young man standing beside a clapped out old geezer.

McCain...screwed up big time when he "thought up" this one!

More and more I'm getting the impression that (like with Dole) he's playing to lose because the GOP wants to come back in 2012 and say the Dems couldn't fix things (because let's face it NO ONE can in 4 years).

6. McSame has no money and can't get the crowds or the level of press. He needs to ride on the Obama
campaign coattails to be heard. I hope Obama says, "No thanks, John. I'd rather communicate with the American people on my own. You do the same."

10. I suspect he will refuse, regardless of whether the townhall meetings are a good idea or not

With McCain insisting that Obama go to Iraq, and now this, insisting that Obama join him in these townhall things, McCain is attempting to dictate the circumstances of the election, and thereby talk down to Obama. While I personally believe that Obama would make McCain rue the day he ever thought of joint appearances, I think it's important that Obama start to seize the initiative and set the pace himself.

Given how Obama kept his cool after Edwards dropped out, refusing to go begging for his endorsement, I think Obama's folks will play this right and start to change the game. McCain will soon be left looking even more bewildered than usual.
