"Indian market is growing; our investment in India grew close to 100 per cent. We expect to keep investing in India. We have extensive activity here-- software development, manufacturing, IT growth.

"For the last 7-8 years, our business and workforce in India grew tremendously. We expect the growth to continue so also the investment to commensurate with the growth," Dell told the visiting Asia Pacific media here.

1. Fuck him and his anti-American work ethic, time to find a new supplier
Of course he will invest in India, no health insurance, no workman's comp, no unemployment insurance, none of the expenses related to a living wage to worry about. Why, he can pay people 25 cents an hour and they will be happy to be working.

9. I built my own a few years ago
called it the Millenium Falcon, because it was a mess, looked like a garbage heap, but was the fastest motherf*cker this side of Silicon Valley.

10. Gee Mike, how many reasons can explain that?
Offshoring is crippling the US economy, at least in terms of the future if no new variable to inject hope of a future is introduced.

Indians need not worry; once a new cheaper country comes along, or if Martians are found to exist, they'll end up in the same boat too.

11. You're Absolutely Right...
Cheaper destinations are already being sought. Soon, Indians will be just as upset as their companies begin to outsource/offshore. It's all about the bottom dollar.

12. Africa is where they are looking next.
Most Africans are so desperate that they would work for a bowl of rice per day.

This is a slave labor pool ripe for the picking. Besides, standards of living in India, China, and Indonesia are rising, so those people expect to be paid too much ya know.:sarcasm:

13. You are Right.
I also heard in addition to Africa, the Philippines is quite appealing. India will be hit twice as hard, as the U.S. Corporations look elsewhere and the Indian Corporations (taking a cue from the U.S. Corps) will do the same. The Corporations of the U.S./India do not care about their own country's citizens. It's all about the $$$$.

16. Show me the money!!!
Close the Austin plant (8800 jobs = 10% of workforce).
Investing in India's economy.

Reason... Dell is currently being investigated by the SEC for its accounting practices. They incurred $46 million in costs related to the federal probe in 2007. I guess when he is found guilty in the probe he will now have a place to hide out.
