US was planning for Iraq war in Dec 2001?
Buried headline found . . .

AP: regarding the second Phase II Senate Intelligence Committee report released today:

"The report focuses on the series of meetings in Rome held over three days in December 2001. The U.S. was fighting in Afghanistan and working on initial planning for the Iraq war."

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080605/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/us_iran_intelligence

That's an interesting little tid bit to just bury in the body of the story.

I thought the official story was we didn't start planning for war until after the congrssional resolution in the fall of 2002.

You learn something new every day.

More importantly, though, when is Hillary going to quit?

PS, note the addendees of the meeting. All either neoconpoops, Iran/Contra co-conspirators or AIPAC functionaries. I'll you one guess which country the foreign intelligence official came from. . .

9. Yes it is.... so much mess to clean up afterwards......
" With unfailing consistancy, U.S. intervention has been on the side of the rich and powerful of various nations at the expense of the poor and needy. Rather than strengthening democracies, U.S. leaders have overthrown numerous democratically elected governments or other populist regimes in dozens of countries ... whenever these nations give evidence of putting the interests of their people ahead of the interests of multinational corporate interests."

And anyone who criticizes with * is disgruntled by definition, so you can't trust them. See how that works?

7. Cheney tried to pass an early draft of PNAC to Poppy Bush as early as 1992
Poppy wisely told him "No fucking way".

And I don't call a Bush "wise" very often. But the old man got this one right.

5. They started the whole thing under the transparent cover of a massive
ME "war game" maneuver in late 2001 into 2002, CENTCOM was moved to Qatar from Florida for the occasion. They moved everybody in place & didn't leave.

6. Planned in 1999
The PNAC Wrote the agenda in 1999. Which I am sure it was
planned way before that.
