He couldn't just acknowledge the OBAMAs' sharing a moment, he had to go a step further and revive, renew his grauitous bashing of GORE by replaying the Kiss at the Dem convention. And he read off a Pew poll without incident, but it was a jagged memory for me, because during campaign 2000, whenever he would have to read a poll favorable to GORE, he would make SOME denigrating remark, like, "A poll from PEE-YEW, what is THAT?!1"

Plus, his unhipness was glaring when he showed off his research staff's naming of the knuckle bump as "dap," which he mouthed chewingly, like Zero MOSTEL in "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," cotton-mouthing the word "plague." Tweety chewed the word like he was gumming it.

And it was hilarious when he did program notes on Michelle OBAMA's co-hosting "The View" next week, and he prounouched Whoopi as "w-oooooo-pea." Of course he had to say that Pickles LED "the wives" in co-hosting (Today show) previously. Asswipe.

In all these years, and supposedly in the ranks of sweaty politics, Tweety is as totally uncomfortable with Hispanics and Blacks.

The Fist Couple: Giving a Big Bump to Authenticity

.... "When I saw them give each other dap, I was like 'Hell yeah!' "

Dap, fist pound, whatever you want to call it-- it's definitely something we're not used to seeing on the national political stage.

"It thrilled a lot of black folks," said author and commentator Ta-Nehisi Coates, who blogs at ta-nehisi.com. Why? Because it's the kind of gesture that, while commonplace in the African American community, was generally stifled by earlier generations of blacks working their way up into the corporate or political worlds for fears "about looking too black," he said. But Obama "is past that. . . . He wears his cultural blackness all over the place." (Remember his aping of Jay- Z's "dirt off your shoulder" move in a recent speech?) "It's liberating to be able to run for president as a black man. . . . Barack is like Black Folks 2.0." ....

2. All younger people do it of every color.. its the new "high-5" in our home
I said this earlier.. by husband (part white/ part Native American) taught our 3 yr old how to do this and its their cool thing.. he says give me daps poppa (another thing we've picked up from our Spanish friends...the whole momma- poppa thing).. beleive me, my poor 55 yr old VT mother is just confused by how "cultural" I have become without even thinking about it.

3. My premise is that Tweety was "out" of it & is only a flunky follower, not a cutting-edger.

I'm guessing (99% sure) that Tweety was barely aware of the gesture before this, that if he noticed it before it was something FOREIGN to him, as utterly foreign as from another planet, and that only now that his attention is drawn to it by somebody he wants to "hang" with (the quotation marks being sarcastic about HIM) does he look adoringly at it.

4. Matthews is one of the most wretched TV people ever...
Actually, wretched is too elevated a description.

5. I saw that...it was pretty disgusting. Why diss Gore after all this time...? Is it to
make some comparison? Start to make Obama into an "elitist, earth toned guy?" Someone who has a relationship with his wife very unlike the coldness of the Bush/Laura...McCain/Cindi relationships? The Stepford wives who "stay in their place."
