Those who control the media DO NOT care if you send
scathing letters, or polite letters

You and I don't control the message, haven't since at least Reagan

You want to do something more effective though this is strategic thinking, and given globalization I don't know if this will work.... yes they can just go across borders...

The media needs to be broken up

Use this glaring example of why they need to be broken up

We have a US Congressman introducing articles of impeachment and it is crickets

And we have had other examples

Kindly point to your congress critters that you want either acts that ARE ON THE BOOK, or new ones passed, that will BREAK the monopolies and bring back a media that WILL SERVE the people in exchange for air.

Granted, with the end of over the air that argument might be more difficult to make, but then pressure on the grounds that a well run democracy requires an informed citizenry... and freely quote from insert founding father here, Jefferson is popular for some silly reason

But you can scream all you want to the media... they don't care... they simply do NOT care.

So all the screaming you do... they just laugh... you got it out of your system... how many will remember to call your congress critter, or write tomorrow?

Ah yes, mission accomplished

3. I don't bother any more
but I will waste my air by calling my congresswoman and kindly reminding her that as long as she refuses to do her duty, per the US Constitution, she has lost my vote... yes even in November, even if she has a D behind her name

13. I always mention my vote when dealing with my congressman and
senators. I know Elizabeth Dole is like "don't tell me, gateley isn't going to vote for me AGAIN'. She doesn't need to know I never did.

what I said is that sending Emails TO THE MEDIA is a waste of air.

Contact your reps please, and remind them there are LAWS in the books that are meant to dissolve Monopolies

It is HIGH TIME they are used

6. Not totally true...
When Kerry ran in 2004 and the swift boat jerks were attacking him, Tweety had on some asshole who was parroting that crap. There was no dispute by what he was saying. Here at DU we inundated Tweety with emails. He actually apologized on the air for it.

It may not work all the time, but it can have an impact if enough people are willing to do it.

9. Sent plenty of letters to the media
funny thing, the only one that had an effect was after the war started and I kindly reminded CNN that showing the faces of POWs was
a no-no. I used the tricky phrases out of the geneva Convention, aka I quoted the actual document... they stopped doing it, even had a disclaimer they read on air.

I am sure they thought I was a lawyer of some kind, or with the ICRC... never seen them respond that fast. Then again the ICRC MIGHT have sent them a similar document at the same time.

But for the most part, it is useless. They need to be broken up... the five monopolies have to be broken into entities no larger than covering a single city... PERIOD!

You're right. If they get deluged by their VOTERS, they may pay attention.

15. Good, I intend to call tomorrow
not that in my case it truly matters, blue dog.. she gives me the usual excuses every time.

I still bug her...

THough in the primary we managed to only get 10% of votes against her

People bitch and moan but are not willing to vote against them...

I know in November I will NOT vote for her... not as long as she refuses to do her Constitutionally Mandated duty, and her staff knows it... I've told them such.

Oh not voting the puke either... but I guess the Green will get my vote

Oh and her seat is so secure that this is truly a protest vote

a slight effect, commercials for oil rigs went up by leaps and bounds.

The really cute ones are the Lockheed and Boing ones... I am NOT in the market for either passenger jets or fighter jets... are you?

the takeover of the media as envisioned by 1960s Republicans is almost done for.

Republicans own NPR and the channel that airs Sesame Street now, don't they? Sort of like Scientology owning and running the Cult Awareness Network (they do).

29. The party in power tends to have a majority in the PBS board
they don't own it, they control it. When Obama gets sworn in they will all resign, that is protocol... and a new board will be appointed, with a Majority Dem, same for the FCC

The Senate DID overturn the FCC decision to further remove restrictions on Media Ownership.
The Senate did this in response to grassroots, Internet based organization.

Score one for us.
