2. And, then every damned time he has to hold Bush just a little accountable
with a committee vote, he lets him off the hook.

Arlen Specter is a blow-hard.

4. Arlen, Arlen, Arlen......you have fooled so many people for so long.....
You and 'the bullet' are truly 'magical'.

Give it a rest. Your time in h*ll will be long and well-deserved, methinks. (but what do *I* know, I'm only a citizen ~ not to be confused with a 'consumer')

Sincerely,
Citizen M_Y_H

5. Specter is all bluster until it counts.
Then he backs down. Ultimately he gave Bush a free ride everytime.

11. Exactly. Bluster today, bend over tomorrow.
Entirely predictable. I wonder who he imagines his audience is.

6. Repuke Specter, like republican McCain would often pretend to challenge Bush on bills & issues
Edited on Tue Jun-10-08 01:15 AM by GreenTea
then always cave in and ALWAYS vote with Bush in the end, for whatever passage Bush wanted....that makes a "Maverick"?

While it was all meant for the media to be able to label this republican slime McCain as a "Maverick" - So now the corporate media feels free to insist & give this bullshit republican McCain a "Maverick" tag....Just to suck in & fool voters!

10. you don't seriously believe he has one? he hasn't had one for over 34 years.
what I want to know: WTF is he DOING on that show?

does the ACLU think he has any credibility? they're hurting their own by having him on, of all the guests they could possibly have.

good part now: asking Risen if he regrets the NYT's holding back his story on wiretapping before the 04 election. unfortunately he's backing his bosses, saying they did a public service by releasing the story. WTF??????

says they had courage, cause he says other news outlets may have not published at all. well, WHAT GOOD did it do to wait? it helped 'reelect' these monsters.

that said, his book, State of War, is excellent, and really lays out what a bunch of lying bastards all those pricks are, and includes the unattributed mention that Condi was the WORST NSC head EVER, and totally incapable of dealing with Cheney or Rumsfeld.

I caught John Burns defending their pre war coverage and it actually made me dizzy.

I don't think Scotty will be the only defector. We need to treat them nicely. Very nicely. Especially if we want more. We've gotta swallow the bile and smile at them.

16. Specter has been trotting out this song and dance at random intervals
for the past several years. Never follows through. There's nobody more full of it than Arlen. As a Pennsylvanian, I would like to believe in him, but I don't.

By bush's Idiocricy, he is a cunning lier , see his earlier speeches, there is nothing like hesitation/confusion in there. This man screwed the constitution in his right mind and pretends he's a fool.

19. Specter is the worse kind of politician.
He had several opportunities to use his vast experience to ferret out Bush's evil, corrupt and incompetent intentions. Why doesn't he spend his time on the floor tomorrow apologizing to us because he was just a band wagoner.

21. I like the tone of this thread...
I remember years ago, posting exactly this type of cynicism when Arlen was positing that he might vote against some of junior's nominees, and I was soundly blasted for unappreciation of his 'centrism'. the joke of course, was on everyone else - I've been here in PA way too long.

It's good to see 'everyone' has come around and awakened...

26. Nobody should fall for the Arlen Act anymore. He spouts "rebel" shit from his blowhole
every now and then to make it look like the GOP actually tolerates dissent and alternative points of view. And then he quietly moves back into position. There's a reason his job is safe--he fools enough Dems and moderates in PA with his "reasonable" spiel, but the conservatives know that he's a reliable vote for them when the chips are down. Otherwise, they would have "primaried" him a long time ago.
