Is John McCain even running for President?
John McCain just allowed the press into his campaign events, the reason being that he is such a lousy public speaker. His "events" barely register on the map. They all seem to be private indoor fund raising events with a select few people. Obama has rallies with hundreds of thousands of people. Now I hear that John McCain's campaign is financially in trouble. So let me get this straight, a republican, who can't raise any dough? It's like the saying "If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is around to hear it, does it make a sound?" Does a republican who can't raise any money even truly exist? My guess is were you to stand up next John McCain and try to touch him, your hand would pass right through him. Is John McCain phoning this one in? Do the republicans know it's hopeless and so they've decided to spend their resources elsewhere or have they just not gotten started?

1. You can't run for president at his age.
Limp for president, walk for president. Maybe even jog for president. But running is completely out of the question for him and every time he will try he will be detracting from his doctors advice. He needs to watch his heart...

8. Babbling for president too. I saw the last part of the speech.
"Demeroos. "Roos" for rise. "Beer" for bill. The pathetic nervous laughter.

Nothing but the politest of applause. He couldn't even rouse 30 Republican businessmen.

10. I would say "sashaying for president"
But that's French and we know how evil the French are for not going along with Il Duce's War on Terror™

3. My gut tells me that He WILL NOT be the Repug nominee.
I think all bets are off by time they get to the convention. At the end of the day I think it will be Romney or someone like that.

4. McCain is a sacrificial lamb...
The GOP knows they are going to get hammered this time around, there really is nothing they can do about it (wont be close enough to cheat)... So they put up the old 'war horse' to take the loss rather than taint any of their younger 'talent' with a failed bid..

6. I agree with your assessment
John McCain is the "Bob Dole" of 2008.

14. In more ways then one
1) Its his 'turn' (Very GOP)
2) Has not had a new idea in a decade
3) Veteran running against a non veteran

Maybe we should start calling him McDole..

7. Winner, winner, chicken dinner
McCain has no party, no platform, and no money. The Republicans know they're going to get walloped in November, and there's no sense in having a younger candidate taking that hit for the party. Send out McCain as the nominee, it's his turn in the barrel (so to speak), and good soldier that he is, he'll take his beating and then go on to whatever's next. Viagra commercials if the prototype for this candidacy is any indication.

5. "Do the republicans know it's hopeless..."
Not wanting to sound cocky, but I've thought the same thing. I think the GOP knows it's going down big time and is trying to shore up what little support they have, perhaps to limit losses in the Legislative Branch.

So much has changed since 1994: "Republicanism" has shown itself to be a flawed political philosophy, and we now have the Internet so we can bypass the complicit media propagandists and discover the truth for ourselves.

9. McCain is a bait and switch placeholder until Cheney sends in the actual nominee, probably
Jindal or Palin depending on who our VP pick is.

15. Wouldn't that be funny? With all the Dems went through to get a nominee
it's the REPUBLICANS who end up with a brokered convention?
