Take a wild guess - Who is McSames VP
But dont just make a stab in the dark - back it up with some kind of entertaining reasoning or similar.

My own shoot: Same Old is going to do a "Quale" and pick someone who will invoke ridicule even from republicans and thereby making McSame look sane. Alberto Gonzales comes to mind as a fitting choice, but im not sure that Gonzo is willing to serve under someone else than *.

Edited on Tue Jun-10-08 10:48 AM by oldtime dfl_er
That empty suit from Minnesota who's gonna get his ass kicked by Al Franken. Coleman's youngish, used to be a Democrat (albeit a bad one), and the Repukes owe him (and own him). sorry that's not funny but the visual of those two standing together might be hilarious.

45. Money is a good point I hadn't thought of
If, however, he goes for the money, I think Obama supporters will come through in spades and destroy their $ "advantage" with donations. I know I'd up my monthly contribution.

IMO, Snoozy McSame's best chance wrt financing is to make a big deal of the agreement he and Obama signed about public financing. The fact that he hasn't brought it up in months, though, shows that he's probably ruled it out too. By reaching for Romney's $, it would definitely be out of the question.

8. Huckabee
For several reasons. First, he's a hit with the fundamentalists. Second, he touted a wellness program in Arkansas that could be a smokescreen for McCain. The program set up information sites around the state and encouraged people to exercise more and lose weight--that's all well and good, but does nothing about the COSTS of health care or about the health insurance industry. But expect McCain to tout it as the "way to go" because it stresses individual responsibility. Third, Huckabee is a Southerner. His name would be enough to get many reluctant Republicans in the South to go to the polls and vote. Fourth, he sounds rational--until you look carefully at his positions. Yes, he's got some corruption baggage, but that will be explained away, I'm sure.

12. That's a head-scratcher
My first thought was Jindal, as he would prove that the GOP can put non-whites on the ticket too.

But then I remembered his target audience. They wouldn't be impressed. The whiter the better.

So I'll go with Huckabee for whiteness and fundy appeal.

34. You could be right

and the Spitzer debacle probably means that he could easily be the next Governor of New York, if he wanted to.

On the other hand he did have a breakfast meeting with McCain in May, which has led to some VP speculation. And his wealth would enable him to contribute a great deal to the ticket, financially.

43. Romney - which would be bad for us (relatively speaking)
Edited on Tue Jun-10-08 05:05 PM by 4_Legs_Good
He's conservative enough that he'll pull the righties back to voting McCain (whom they've been taught to hate for 2 decades by Rush Limbow), and he will probably deliver Michigan for the pukes. Also he fits with their attempt to present themselves as independents, as he's a former governor of a blue state.

I still think we'll clean their clocks, but Romney would be their best shot, and I think they'll take it.

Edit: If I were him, I'd choose Colin Powell in a second (not that he would take it). He's the only Republican in the country who has even the slightest shred of credibility (among Republicans, he has no shred with me).
