Jus soli, freeper assholes. Eat it up and swallow it. Obama was born in a US state, not a US territory or US posession or a US embassy or a US military base or anything else. He's as much a natural-born American as I am. Or for that matter, Dubya is, because both him and I were born in Connecticut.

Now, freeper assholes, what state was John McCain born it?

<crickets>

Um, yeah, thought so.

How about a piece of advice?

1. Facts? They don't need no stinkin' FACTS
If you repeat a lie often enough, some people will believe it....

I think they know better, they just don't care.

30. Doesn't even matter
Edited on Tue Jun-10-08 07:14 PM by lolly
He has to have been born in the U.S.--doesn't matter if it's a state yet or not. Just on U.S. territory.

I'm guessing several U.S. presidents in the 19th-early 20th century were born in territories rather than states.

So, no need to produce birth certificates or check dates. Geez, they are grasping at straws.

Oh--on edit. I don't have any info on the previous statement, but the first half-dozen or so U.S. presidents were, of course, NOT born in any state, since the United States didn't exist when they were born.

Guess that makes George Washington and his immediate successors terrorists, or something.

34. Several US Presdients in The Early 18th Century. . .
. . .were born in British territory! Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, Adams, Jackson! So, this thing about being "not born" in the U.S. is about the dumbest argument there can be.

2. No one doubts Obama was born in HI but why won't his campaign release
Edited on Tue Jun-10-08 11:33 AM by saracat
his birth certificate?. Why doesn't the campaign just release it and have done with it? I am sure he had to produce it at some point to confirm citizenship as part of his eleigability to run for Prez. He wouldn't have gotten this far withpout some prppf. The allegation is silly so why not release his bith certificate? He had to have one for his passport!

20. Only to Shut Them Up
so we can actually focus on other things....Important things.....Continuing to refuse to release it is only going to allow the MORANS to "legitimize" their crap. I agree he shouldn't have to, but maybe he should do it anyway and pull their legs out from under them and shut them the hell up!

18. What does that have to do with anything? How would his birth certificate hurt him?
He obviously proved his citizenships to get a passport and to run for office. Wouldn't just producing it shut people up? Jeez. It is the witholding of it that causes people to jap. There are online copies of former presidents birth certificates. I have seen some of them.

33. Something you might think about.
Why do you even bother talking to her? She hates Obama, she's not going to vote for him, and she's going to piss and moan in every post.

Read her only for entertainment value. If you try to argue with her, she'll complain nonstop to the mods about you. For reasons we will never know, she's allowed to continue what she's been doing for months - slamming our guy. Why waste your time trying to reason with her? It can't be done, and you know this already.

32. It reminds me of the calls for Clinton to release certain records.
Edited on Thu Jun-12-08 08:25 AM by Evergreen Emerald
politically motivated: calls for her tax returns, library funding (as if that is relevant to anything) and the donors to the non-profit organization.

These calls for the birth certificate are akin to those calls. Tricks by opponents to get distortions out there calling into question their fitness for the job.

And of course the answer to the idea that he will not release the requested information has always been: he would release it if he had nothing to hide. It would certainly stop the questions.

Didn't know that about ol' Goldwater.

Of course, his territory of birth became a state, as did KansDem's upthread. But Panama is not, to my current knowledge, a US state! :-)

Bet the freepers are grinding their teeth over this one!

14. I hate to mention a Rep here but...
Barry Goldwater, who ran for President in 1964, was born in the Arizona Territory in 1909.
AZ didn't become a state until 1912.
