Congressman Wexler Consponsors Bush Impeachment
Submitted by davidswanson on Tue, 2008-06-10 17:14. Impeachment

(Washington, DC) Today, Congressman Robert Wexler (D-FL), a senior member of the House Judiciary Committee, signed onto Congressman Dennis Kucinich's (D-OH) Articles of Impeachment against President George W. Bush. The Articles outline numerous allegations against President Bush, including his creation of a massive propaganda campaign to mislead the nation into war with Iraq, the illegal use of torture during interrogation, the authorization of a warrantless wiretapping program on American citizens, and the repetitive use of signing statements to negate legislation passed by Congress.

"President Bush deliberately created a massive propaganda campaign to sell the war in Iraq to the American people and the charges detailed in this impeachment resolution indicate an unprecedented abuse of executive power," said Congressman Wexler. "A decision by Congress to pursue impeachment is not an option, it is a sworn duty. It is time for Congress to stand up and defend the Constitution against the blatant violations and illegalities of this Administration. Our Founding Fathers bestowed upon Congress the power of impeachment, and it is now time that we use it to defend the rule of law from this corrupt Administration."

This year Congressman Wexler launched a nationwide campaign to hold impeachment hearings for Vice President Dick Cheney and he has also called for inherent contempt for Karl Rove for ignoring subpoenas to testify. Congressman Wexler also led an effort to bring Scott McClellan before the House of Representatives to testify about the devastating revelations made in his recently released book.

16. I'm urging my Congressman, a Repuke of the more vile kind, to sit up
and take notice. I suggest everyone do so even though they think there isn't a prayer in Hell. There is. It seems on random polling on the web that an average of sixty percent of Americans are in favor of Kucinich's resolution and that isn't just progressives but Americans at large. It's time to put on the pressure. Dennis has done the work and given us the tools. It will be up to us the people to get Congress's attention. During an upcoming election, they can't ignore this.

22. Right, call our reps now! Pressure! One poll is up to 80% for Impeachment!
My congress critter is a weak-kneed Dem, but he will certainly be hearing from a large chunk of his constituency on this Resolution. I know hardly anyone around here who doesn't favor throwing the bums out and that includes both Democrats and Republicans...rock-solid citizens ashamed of their country and outraged at the mess we are in!

27. Called my useless Repuke congresscritter this afternoon.
John Culberson. Told the girl who answered the phone that by voting against sending Kucinich's resolution to the Judiciary Committe, he did not represent me, nor did he represent the majority of the American people.
