But, despite talk of a military option, both in Israel and Washington, Mr. Bush said he hoped to “leave behind a multilateral framework to resolve this issue” after he steps down.

8. and I would venture as far as to say I bet some of those same leaders
can't wait to see them out of the whitehouse so as the world, such as themselves, can deal with them in a legal manner. bushco* is in for a big surprise if they think they can just say "we don't or won't abide by the world criminal court because I/we say we won't/don't." It won't fly my guess is anyway. :-)

From the article link posted by OP:
The communiqué coincided with heightened tensions over Iran’s nuclear program since the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna registered “serious concern” last month about Tehran’s suspected research into the development of nuclear weapons.

Why is the NYT publishing this bullshit when they also published just recently:
The I.A.E.A. Report on Iran

Re “Iran and the Inspectors” (editorial, May 28):

The International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors have had open and unfettered access to all nuclear facilities in Iran, even well beyond Iran’s treaty obligations, and the I.A.E.A.’s latest report stresses that it has “been able to continue to verify the non-diversion of declared nuclear material in Iran.” This attests to the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program.

The report also states that the inspectors have conducted “nine unannounced” inspections of Iran’s enrichment facilities since March 2007, and that all aspects of Iran’s nuclear fuel cycle remain “under agency containment and surveillance.”

Iran’s nuclear program is peaceful, legal and transparent. Iran has presented proposals to defuse international tensions, offering to engage in negotiations without preconditions to deal with all issues, including the nuclear issue.

Iran is committed to its obligations under the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty. In principle, Iran refuses to abide by illegal and coercive pressures or threats that seek to deprive Iran of its inalienable rights.
