Janet's Nephew is HOME from Iraq!!! (BUT...) |
|
The Air Force chartered a plane to bring his unit home. They stopped in Budapest, Iceland and then finally to Washington DC. At that point, the USAF travel people asked them who they were and what they were doing there! No one had planned on getting them from Washington to their base in Columbus, OH!!! They were told they could all go to the airport and catch flights in ones and twos over a day or so... They wanted to return AS A UNIT!
So, they rented 6 passenger vans and DROVE from Washington to Columbus and returned home AS A UNIT. They were greeted by family and friends, and their commander got volunteers to drive the darn vans BACK to Washington!!!
If the military can't even get a unit HOME, how bad do you think it is in Iraq?!?!?!?
Thay are all home safe and sound, mostly due to their own resources!!!

1. I'm glad they are safe |
|
but I fear their story is not unique. I think soldiers make it in spite of the Air Force (or Army or Navy)

2. So happy that they are home! |
|
It is such a great feeling when they come home in one piece. My stepsister is in the Air Force, she is headed to Iraq in September. Doesn't bode well for her. She will be there for six months just in time for our election and what ever else * has planned. She is 42 so I am sure that she will have her eyes wide open. Peace, Kim

7. How stupid of the military not to realize what that meant to them. |
|
Just one more way they are not supporting the troops.

And nobody knew they were coming? Disgraceful! But then again, a Bush-run military don't have money to waste on such stuff when there are performance bonuses to pay to the mercenaries. No wonder the surge is going so well!
You ought to contact the media.

5. Amen. I'd have driven one back for them... |
|
All the way home they figured they were in BIG trouble, but the base commander met them and took the bills for reimbursement!!! Janet's mom and sister were there to meet him, along with his wife and son...
