Yesterday at the Richmond City jail

BTW-yesterday was the 4th straight day of record heat (100 each day) here.

The jail has no air conditioning (they are given cups of ice at each meal)

The NEW sheriff is working on getting locks (that work)on all the cells too!

Richmond jail inmate dies; fifth death this year
Deputy suffers shock related to heat and is taken to hospital

A Richmond jail inmate died yesterday, but sheriff's department officials say they don't believe the death was related to temperatures that topped 100 degrees inside the crowded facility. Jail officials are awaiting a medical examiner's report on the death of Linwood Jones, 47, of Richmond. He did not show signs of heat stroke or exhaustion, Lt. Col. Walter Allmon said.

Jones, who had a history of medical problems, died despite receiving jolts from a defibrillator shortly after he lost consciousness, jail officials said.

He was the fifth inmate to die this year, all from illnesses they suffered before coming to jail.

3. No
I know

you and others have told me

The picture in the Times-Dispatch (inmates in their underwear) didn't look like a day at the beach

As I was told recently-"Everyone there is either on drugs or should be"
