Help! Dear friend needs DU love, prayers, mitzvah, etc... (dog lovers, please check in)
Our good friend KW--a brilliant teacher who lives in MN--has been staying with us here in TX since Thursday, interviewing to teach (she signed a contract today) so she can move back down here.

She was told this a.m. that her beloved, brilliant Sheltie, Jordie, is on life support at the vet...in MN...since Sunday...he's 13 and in failing health. She is heartbroken. She's flying back up & she'll be there with him first thing Thurs. when the vet opens.

Please send vibes, prayers, & DU love to KW & Jordie.

p.s. anybody have a copy of the Rainbow Bridge handy?

3. Rainbow Bridge
Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

6. She'll be with him. That means a lot.
Their lives are shorter than ours. We know going in this day will come. That dog was loved and cared for and valued every day of his life. Now, he will be mourned.

Grief is the last privilege of love and here it has been well earned.

13. It sure does. And the only way thru it is thru it.
But you wouldn't feel it if you didn't feel the love. And that is a great gift.

11. One of our racetrack rescue greyhounds is dying with cancer...here is the link to Rainbow Bridge
http://rainbowsbridge.com/ or try www.rainbowsbridge.com
where they can create a virtual memorial to their beloved pet.
I love the Rainbow Bridge poem, but one I have come to love even more is one about "Love me Enough to Let Me Go" or something like that, but I can't find it! I especially like that because it helps when that awful moment comes when you realize, "It's time." My heart breaks for her, and I have cried a river while reviewing these poems, because our little grey will only be with us for a few more days. Here is another poem that's similar

If It Should Be

If it should be that I grow weak,
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this last battle cannot be won.

You will be sad, I understand;
Don't let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day more than all the rest,
Your love for me must stand the test.

We've had so many happy years -
What is to come can hold no fears
You'd not want me to suffer so;
The time has come, so let me go.

Take me where my needs they'll tend.
And please stay with me until the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time that you will see
The kindness that you did for me.
Athough my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.

Please do not grieve - it must be you
Who had this painful thing to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years -
Don't let your heart hold back its tears.

Unknown

12. I'm so sorry, KW! I love my critters so much!!!
I had to let one go, recently,...a 19 year-old kitty. She was the first one I cared for, all these years, and lost. I cried for days.

The love you both have never leaves.

14. Remember NOAH's Wish disaster pet rescue in NOLA in memory
of our beloved pets and consider a donation or volunteerism..or anything..just pass the good word.

They went down to NOLA after Katrina to care for abandoned pets and critters.

Just a thought in honor of our beloved pets- who have crossed the rainbow bridge something positive and can make a difference for the little fur balls who needs us.

16. update -- thank y'all...
K's on the plane home now. Jordie's taken a "turn for the worst", but he's conscious, and the family is convinced he's waiting for her.

Tears.
