Chuck Todd reported this morning that Obama's vetters have a list of |
|
15-20 people they are vetting for VP. He also said that keeping the list private was becoming difficult. Does anyone here have that list?

Tom Daschle Evan Bayh Sam Nunn Hillary Clinton Kathleen Sebelius
I don't recall whether Wes Clark was on that list, but he certainly should have been, and honestly, that's all I can remember off the top of my head.

7. this "list" which I don't think is the REAL list, has basically no surprises, and we know Obama is |
|
full of interesting surprises, so I wouldn't take the list to heart.

12. I think just about anyone could put together a list of 5 that would certainly be on it |
|
And some folks could probably name 10 likely candidates, not me though.
It all boils down to how much latitude Obama feels he has. Any dam fool can see a landslide is there to be had but in this year there will be votes lost to racism as well as extreme party loyalty, not to mention interparty loyalty. So Obama's calculation has to be the balance between the need for a southern white guy with military experience or a head-over-heels dive into the abyss with an ultra liberal woman from somewhere in the north. That is a wide range even if you leave out the absurd choices, like a stray Republican, openly homosexual person, or someone with a lobbying background.
