AH, called my Congress Woman, yes wasted my air |
|
I told her staffer that I want them to support Kucinich...
She went WHO? CONGRESSMAN KUCINICH, his bill of impeachment was READ AGAIN last night by the clerk of the House... Silence on the line, as if she was shocked...
Yes I watch C-SPAN.
Second, Iran is the same song and dance we heard before, and this needs to be stopped...
I closed with the ever so popular, if she continues to stall on Impeachment and actually stop Bush on his war mongering, she's lost my vote in November.
At least I didn't get the usual list of excuses... I guess they were instructed to be NICE and not repeat the DLC talking points
But the fact that I WATCH the SPAN actually shocked her.
Oh and I did add, I care about the Constitution and I don't care what party anymore... that was met with truly SILENCE.

2. We've discussed this before - you did NOT talk to a staffer. |
|
You talked to an intern, a kid that's between 16-22 who has no real idea what's going on. They just log your call, send a letter to follow up, and that's it. There's no way this person would have had any knowledge of what happened last night, as it was NOT a major action. Nor would they have any real response for you to anything else other than "Yep, uh-huh, I'll pass along your message."
I know you know better than this, so stop distorting what happened.

By the way, WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?
Or you just REFUSE to call them and then just make fun of people who at LEAST TRY to do their civic duty?

15. My problem is that you're artificially making someone sound like an ass. |
|
Make calls all you want, just don't distort the truth. You're tarnishing your rep's image for no good reason other than your own ego and/or ignorance, and I'm sorry but that is not going to fly.

20. THEY ARE ASSES... and CLUELESS |
|
and her official stance is that she stands behind the Speaker, aka no impeachment on the table
So exactly HOW am I tarnishing a Rep by actually stating HER OFFICIAL STANCE on an issue close to my heart?
And by the way I WILL NOT vote for anybody who refuses to follow their oath of office, REGARDLESS OF PARTY... is this clear enough for you?

(at the time, Phillip Thompson) most certainly not just a staffer, but a senior staffer. I'm not sure why you have such a hard-on about this, and I don't wish to get in the middle of a pissing contest, but based on my own personal experience, the OP is certainly plausible.

|
Edited on Wed Jun-11-08 02:05 PM by nadinbrzezinski
And I had coffee with Akaka before moving back from Hawaii, and have talked with Abercrombie's senior staff as well
It comes down to being a DLCer... and hating us calling blue dogs to the carpet
Hell we have a funny story regarding Boxer and Katrina...
And I even talked with Carter once, after he left the office... and that was purely being on the wrong place at the right time.
Oh and the lady answering the phone today was a junior staffer... nothing impressive. My observation of the cluelessness has also been made by Randhi Rhodes as well

|
I don't talk to an intern. I talk to a middle aged woman who is usually about as clueless as the OP reported. I do get a thorough response on every issue I call about though.

That's why they're clueless. They're there to help constituents, not keep up to date on issues.

in their office. If they can't keep up with what's going on in DC, why the hell should they expect the rest of the country to. There are plenty of people who would love to have those jobs who would care about what's going on.

17. It's probably 50/50. T_C_O jr. is an intern & sometimes answers the phone |
|
but sometimes a staffer does. Either way, unless many people call about the same concern it's pretty much passed off.

31. They hate people calling |
|
and they truly hate it when MANY call... that is when they know we are paying attention.
And it depends on the size of the district and where it is.
I have actually talked to some members of Congress (no, not the staffer, the real deal) and a few Senators (again the real deal) a couple times
That is rare

|
record my phone call and request. I have sent my requests by snail mail in writing since then. It's harder to ignore and I do get snail mail answers from his office even though they are smoke and mirror answers "you concerns are important to me" and then they end up asking for money. Oh, well. At least I know I tried.

The part that amazes me is... people complaint, but these people are HARD to vote out. I mean they are preferable to the asshole we don't know I guess.

But my Congresscritter is a the son of my former Senator Paul Sarbanes. If he doesn't back the Impeachment. I'm going to go to great lengths to point out that Sarbanes Jr. is no better then Bush Jr. In the deep blue state of Maryland. He then becomes a cat in the dog pound. To date I'm pretty pleased with his voting record. I really don't have a problem with him. But this is the make or break issue that will have a HUGE impact on my future support of him.
