War with Iran is the only answer
My parents are friends with a couple of bushbots. These bushbots used to be proud, now they are sullen.

They think that the only way to ensure victory in Iraq is to elect McCain. They think the only way that McCain can be elected is if Bush takes us to war with Iran, and the American people rally behind the military.

(ps- they think very highly of Obama, and don't think that he is "inexperienced". Anyone that can out campaign the Clintons cannot be described as "inexperienced".)

1. Your parents want this country to invade ANOTHER sovereign country,
injure and kill its civilians, plunder its assets, become its sponsor, etc. just so the American public will become cheerleaders for the military and vote for McCain?

I think I need a drink.

9. My mother could have friends were diametrically opposite her political leanings.
She always managed to keep the discourse civil.

BTW, I'm glad it's not your parents, but I'm sorry your parents' friends are that scared that they would wish for another war.

15. worse, they have a s-in-l IN Iraq
and they know what an utter failure the post-mission-accomplished mission has been.

They really think that Bush has failed at winning the peace.

Hard to fathom

No parents wants to face the fact that their child has the potential of being injured or killed in vain by a leader in whom they entrusted that child.

19. At least their s-i-l has opened their eyes
He has made them beleive that Bush placed politics above winning in Iraq.
He convinced them that "cronies" are running the show instead of the military or real diplomats.

They still love Bush, but Dear Leader is not infallible any longer.

It is a start.

The husband of this couple used to pepper me all the time from 2003 well into 2006 that the war has been won, the left discredited, yadda, yadda, yadda.
He is far more humble now.

2. War with Iran is not the only way to get President McCain
Edited on Wed Jun-11-08 02:36 PM by Cronus Protagonist
A successful, deafeated, or partially successful black hat operation on US soil will awaken the beast that is fascist America once more, and McCain will lead the black horse to victory.

A/ A successful operation would result in pulic opinion being enraged into killing more swarthy types abroad.

B/ A failed operation would result in public opinion being that Bush's policies WORKED.

C/ A partially successful operation that was partially thwarted would result in A AND B, so that's the type of operation I would expect to see after Labor day.

8. lol - great minds think alike
When my parent's bushbot friends told me they thought we needed to go into Iran, I replied, "Bush let 9-11 happen on purpose. Couldn't he just do it again?"
That made them

3. I don't think Bush will comply - i think he's more likely to invade Iran
if he thinks Obama has a good chance of winning so as to force him to do it; but if McCain does well out of the gate, Bush may decide to wait and let McCain, who clearly favors invading Iran, do the work.

11. imho, and it is just that, my humble opinion
McCain can't win.
Sure Hillary (and diebold) would have wiped the floor with McCain, but I think that Obama will beat him pretty good, barring another 9-11 or war with Iran.

5. I think the Repubs are wrong....
I think an attack on Iran would bring about the greatest backlash in our history.

The price of oil would skyrocket, and the ME countries might boycott sales of oil to the Great Satan. Dumbya would get blamed.

They shouldn't forget, either, that Iran is NOT Iraq. They have enough missiles to control the Straits of Hormuz. They ain't going quietly.

I'm watching DU and other news sources.... the missiles will still be in the air, and I'll be at the gas station, filling a couple of 50 gallon barrels with the last gas I'm going to be getting for a while.

22. Doesn't Iran have an army like 1 million strong?
U.S. casualties would likely double within a week. Going to war with Iran would be the stupidest possible move W could make, which is why it's almost assured that he will. But the backlash will be swift, harsh, and possibly violent.

10. The bushbots have signed up with the US military, I presume?
Have they signed up their kids, as well?

Or do they just want everyone else's children to kill & be killed/maimed/damaged?

18. I think we should "war with" Liechenstein instead
Here's the rationale:

Pick a small defenseless country. Go in guns blazing, special ops forces all over the place. Overwhelm them - it wouldn't really take too much manpower. They'd never suspect that we were gunning for them. It would be over within days.

Ooops, the rethugs already did that, with Grenada.

Sorry, carry on. Sure, let's just "war with" Iran, and fuck over the entire planet. Gotta love those neocons!

:sarcasm:
