the rest of the House Dems PUT TOGETHER.

I know Obama wants to get elected, but if he wants to REALLY
change D.C., he'll quit siding with the Pelosi contingent and
express in some way (however subtle) that he AGREES with Dennis
on principle on this issue.

32. You got it -- not to mention the loss of respect of all of US ...
Obama -- if he is the "real deal" as many of us have
believed -- needs to somehow send a message that he
agrees; otherwise all we're getting is more STATUS
QUO re-packaged.

39. Nader will say the Congress was too busy with fund raising to uphold the constitution.
Isn't that part of the objection by the House leadership?

"We don't have time to impeach and do other things..."

Like Andy Rooney would ask, "Why is that?"

From your screenname, were you hoping for a Gary Hart

hope that there's a place for him in the Obama Admin.

61. We all project our hopes on Obama.
It is hard to say what will be now. January 2009 is still a long way off in the future.

Hart was very close to running in 2004. In the end, he decided he couldn't raise the money that he needed to compete. He never liked raising money. He decided to focus on writing more books and working for his think tanks.

The tragedy of it was that I knew Kerry would be saddled with the Massachusetts liberal label and not be able to compete in the South and West.

Refusal To Investigate: Alleged Complicity With War Crimes

The public must support the lawful removal of the Speaker. The GOP and DNC have a vested interest in preventing this. The GOP and DNC are in an illegal rebellion against the Constitution; they are the domestic enemies; and they are disloyal to the Constitution. They are the problem.

Our job must be to stand between the Speaker and the Constitution. The Speaker must be confronted. Otherwise, this tyranny will continue under the guise of freedom.

51. Have you thought about
the precedent this is setting? Is the next president or the one after that or any president from now on going to feel free to do the same as Bush - because Congress has set a precedent that these crimes are not worth pursuing in an impeachment trial? If so, then from now on, the U.S. is going to look more and more like a dictatorship.

Edited on Thu Jun-12-08 06:05 AM by Freddie Stubbs
If you recall, LA Congressman William Jefferson (the guy with $90,000 in his freezer) was stripped his membership of the Way and Means Committee by a vote of the House.

Pelosi's can only get rid of Conyers if a majority in the House wants to get rid of him. I suppose that is possible if a majority in the House opposes impeachment.

24. Kucinich's stand reminds me of Con. John Quincy Adams
who, after his term as President, represented a district of MA in the House. At the time, slavery was a hot button issue and the House made a rule forbidding anyone to discuss slavery or to bring petitions about slavery before the House. For YEARS, Adams brought petitions before the House--even ones by slaves saying they liked slavery (this brought to him by Southerners who wanted to know if he was really arguing the First Amendment or was a secret Abolitionist). It took years, but eventually the House realized Adams was right. He is known as "Old Man Eloquent" because of this stand. BTW, he died in the Capitol--as one person said at the time, "Where would God find him except at the post of duty?"

I think old John Q. is smiling kindly on Dennis Kucinich.
