AND MAKE SURE THAT NOTHING/NO ONE is behind you before you back up in your car. In fact, walk around the back of your car (to make SURE that there aren't any 'persons', bikes, skateboards, et al' behind your car.

My former neighbor used to "bolt" out of his garage ..... totally sightless.... When all of the neighborhood kids would just love to 'literally' RUN AROUND HIS HOUSE.

Kids are stoopid. Adults need to antipcate this stupidity.

(I ALMOST witnessed a tragedy this evening b/c someone didn't 'do' those things, which prompts this post)

1. There are so, so many SUVs and big bulky trucks and stuff these days.

It's a wonder to me how anyone sees what's going on when they're backing out in one of those things. I think they should all have built-in motion detectors so that you can tell if anything's behind you when you're backing up.

4. Oh yeah. That's this neighborhood, too.

We've had one person get out of the car in order to ensure that the way out of the garage is clear of kids. Otherwise, it's a lot of checking, and continual checking, while moving very slowly.
