Rising gas prices to allow drilling off the coast? |
|
A coworker of mine today suggested that rising gas prices may be a scheme to get enough public support to drill off the coast and in other places "at home" so to speak.
I had not thought of this, but it makes sense that once gas hits $5 or $6 a gallon they might all of a sudden say "Hey, guess what we could do that would make gas cheaper....".
Anyone think there might be any logic to this?

1. Well, I know some repugs are using this logic to push for drilling in Alaska. |

2. How about not exporting our drilled oil? |
|
More American oil is sold to Europe and China than to Americans. Keep American resources IN America should be the first step in energy independence. Then find alternatives that are not also a food source AND a food source for our livestock. Y'know, like ethanol refined from hemp.

3. I'm afraid it's worse than that.... |
|
Poppy Bush told his friends to raise the gas prices rapidly as he was building the case to attack Saddam Hussein in the Fall of 1990.
Chimpy told the same friends to start cranking them up to help sell "cheap gas" as an excuse to invade Iraq again.
This current economy crippling insanity will create a nation of desperate people who will accept the invasion of Iran or any other Middle Eastern country as long as some piece of shit like Lou Dobbs or Sean Hannity convinces them that it will get gas prices back under $3/gallon.
It's criminal history repeating itself. Again.

and if their drilling technology is as foolproof as their safety quality control, then we're going to have Florida beaches soaked with oil eventually. We ought to be the ones sucking that milkshake dry.

|
there might be some rigs to drill . all the rigs that drill deeper than 9000ft is off the coast of brazil. yes all the huge profits the oil companies are making there is a shortage of drilling rigs in the world

10. Right. The OPEC nations are pushing up the price of oil so that drilling will take place |
|
in areas that they don't control.
Logic much?
