i don't have a link yet but i thought this article was timely---and infuriating.

GOP senators shoved aside the Democratic proposal, arguing that punishing Big Oil won't do a thing to lower the $4-a-gallon-price of gasoline that is sending economic waves across the country. High prices at the pump are threatening everything from summer vacations to Meals on Wheels deliveries to the elderly.

2. i'm waiting for a better source the channel 13, that's where i saw the story.
they interviewed a few of the elderly served by meals, apparently the county is switching over to frozen meals and the delivery service will be just that, drop it off and see ya later and that's what was the saddest ting, the people interviewed said sometimes the only people they get to talk to are the good people at meals on wheels.

this has really sucked.

5. Arnold maxed out the credit card already, there's no more bonds
to float. Rather than tax Malibu, Newport Coast & Marin they'll cut the schools & old people.

3. Our local Meals on Wheels is having trouble too
According to a recent news story, they had to cut out "frills" like salads and deserts.
