"Too Liberal".. what a stupid thing to say..
WHEN will the media STOP with the nonsense about how America is "conservative".. We have NEVER been a conservative nation, or we would all be huddled together east of the Mississippi River...farming..

We would never have helped win WWII

We would have never gotten to the moon..

We might have never broken from England (but we would have decent health care now..hmmm)

Definitions of liberal:

* noun: a person who favors a political philosophy of progress and reform and the protection of civil liberties

* adjective: having political or social views favoring reform and progress

* adjective: tolerant of change; not bound by authoritarianism, orthodoxy, or tradition

* adjective: showing or characterized by broad-mindedness

Example: "A liberal newspaper"

* adjective: given or giving freely

Example: "A liberal backer of the arts"

1. When I hear this, I ask, "Then you think Jesus was 'too liberal'?"
After all, look at the Sermon on the Mount. Look at what he said about rich people and about how you are to treat "the least of these". I like to use the Jesus analogy because most people spewing this bilge say they are good Christians.

2. JFK's take on being a liberal
September 14, 1960

What do our opponents mean when they apply to us the label "Liberal?" If by "Liberal" they mean, as they want people to believe, someone who is soft in his policies abroad, who is against local government, and who is unconcerned with the taxpayer's dollar, then the record of this party and its members demonstrate that we are not that kind of "Liberal." But if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal."
