1. I'm not too surprised by that.
Buck the leadership and find out what happens. Nancy's got to use something to get people to toe the line.

19. Nancy Pelosi is currently the Speaker
Any member may make a motion declaring that the office of Speaker is vacant. If passed, Pelosi would no longer be Speaker. A vacancy in the Speakership would require a vote to elect a new Speaker.

3. I heard it on Randi's show quite a while ago.
I still say that Bush is holding something over her--possibly something that he can turn into complicity?

7. Randi said they ARE complicit
Because they've probably all been briefed on every detail.

By not saying anything at the time of the briefing, that spells complicity.

12. We have a fox in the hen house. That much is for sure.
As for the Congressional group the Bush administration met with and made privy to his spying and interogation policies. That meeting was TOP SECRET along with anything discussed in it. They were threatened with prosecution if they divulged anything from the meeting. This was at a time that the Republicans would scream TREASON if you even suggested the possibility that Iraq did not have WMD's. So their silence was the result of extreme duress from threat of legal peril. Lets not forget that.

10. BS. She doesn't have the power to remove him
It would take a majority of the House to do that. Is John Conyers afraid of the majority of the House?

14. Do a majority of House Dems want to cross Pelosi?
Edited on Thu Jun-12-08 01:27 PM by sfexpat2000
I don't think so.

It also seems unlikely to me that she made this threat. She doesn't need to.

22. Yes, IF that is what the majority wants to do
So far, the majority has not shown any inclination to do either.

25. So far, only one Democrat in the House has lost his primary this year
In fact, Nancy Pelosi won her primary by a landslide against an opponent who ran TV and radio ads about impeachment.

15. Speaker Must Be Removed For Her Illegal Position on Impeachment Investigation
The Constitution does not delegate any power to the Speaker to decide impeachment issues. That power was only delegated to the House of Representatives.

Speaker Pelosi is confused. She is (for now) Speaker, not the Constitutionally recognized chamber. The Speaker has no power to impeach; and no legal authority to compel the House not to investigate and not to debate articles of impeachment.

23. One more person to phone, email and snail mail, Nancy Pelosi.
Remind her that impeding justice and the Judiciary Committee in doing their job during an election year, where she is being challenged by two other candidates, could be political suicide for her.
