Swinger club ordered to stop hosting sex parties
http://www.local6.com/news/16583258/detail.html

<snip>
City code enforcement officials have ordered a controversial underground swingers club to stop hosting sexually themed parties by the end of Thursday or face fines of up to $250 a day.

Melbourne officials and an irritated landlord want to close the Hunt Club which is based inside a house in the rustic Oak Groves subdivision, nestled among acre-lot estates, horse stables and backyard fish ponds along the Turtle Mound Road corridor.
...
In a Tuesday e-mail to Code Enforcement Administrator Dan Porsi, Page contended that her club is a private group, not a business, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported. She stated that Melbourne officials were "making up ridiculous fines and singling out a few people to persecute."

"Fully grown adults will not tolerate being told who they can and cannot have sex with," Page wrote. "Twisting existing laws or making up new ones to punish people for their sex lives is not only arrogant and misguided, but also corrupt in the sense that you are using your political position to impose your favored sexual practices on someone else."
<snip>

Don't you just love when religious whackos decide who you can and cannot sleep with? It frustrates me to no end that so many of these people have nothing better to do than spy on their neighbors, to see what kinds of activities are taking place between consenting adults behind closed doors.

Seriously, how would these nosy neighbors know whether this particular place (which is enclosed behind a privacy fence) is hosting weekly poker sessions, tupperware parties, Bible studies, or swinger parties? The answer is they WOULDN'T if they kept to themselves, if they weren't trawling the internet looking for sinful activities to stomp out.

2. This may be more that simple blue nosery
Neighbors often object when people hold events which bring extra traffic and parking issues. This happened in Southern Florida, except instead of singers it was religious services conducted in private homes.

4. Well, if they do it every week or even more often, instead of once in awhile, it could
present a traffic, parking and noise problem in a residential neighborhood, which is why the neighbors started taking notice. It's really no different than a dope dealer living next door to you. (Happened to me once.) Once they start becoming a nuisance, people will call authorities and the authorities will try to find laws that they can enforce.

5. Except this isn't a typical residential neighborhood
It's more of a rural neighborhood, more wide open, etc.

8. the club we belonged to was in a private house on a private road, with no neighbors to bother...

and the local faux news affiliate still found a need to do an expose...during sweeps week of course.
although there were no neighbors nearby, they went to other homes in the area and asked the residents if they knew the club was there and what it was about- none of them had even known it was there, and none of them had ever had any complaints...until faux brought it to their attention.
it wasn't too much longer after that that the people who owned/lived in the house and ran the club stopped hosting parties. now they rent out hotel floors/motels etc. to have the parties.
