On Edit:

Besides, many in this country are perfectly content with letting their own Criminal Mafia Leaders walk away Scott Free just so they can cheer and feel good and feel powerful again about their illusory false paradigm they live in.

How can they possibly be bothered to soil their beautiful minds with things like this.

On another note to BHN:

Yes, unfortunately that which today is dark clouds on the horizon will be raging storm clouds over our own back yards eventually.

And we are woefully unprepared.

10. A nightmare you can't wake up from- indeed
A falling dream where you never hit the ground;
you are just frozen in terror and unable to scream.

Watching ten little nasty gang bangers buying up
guns and ammo the other day did not make me feel
much better about our future.

Sometimes, it is hard to contemplate how
fast and far the train flew off the tracks, no?

Perhaps even harder to think about is the fact that the REAL nightmare
is yet to come.

Now, what time is American Idol on?

8. Fuel price protests spread across Europe
Edited on Thu Jun-12-08 10:10 PM by chill_wind
BBC News Europe

Europe fuel protests spread wider

Friday, May 30 2008 13:55 UK

Fuel protests triggered by rising oil prices have spread to more countries across Europe, with thousands of fishermen on strike.

Union leaders said Portugal's entire coastal fleet stayed in port on Friday, while in Spain, 7,000 fishermen held protests at the agriculture ministry.

French fishermen have been protesting for weeks, with Belgian and Italian colleagues also involved.

UK and Dutch lorry drivers held similar protests earlier this week.

The strike reflects anger at the rising cost of fuel, with oil prices above $130 (83.40 euros; £65.80) a barrel.

Trade unions say the cost of diesel has become prohibitively high, after rising 300% over the past five years.

22. Wont do you a bit of good having a gun. You will be shot the minute the police see you with it.
Go ahead and riot when the police tell you to drop your weapon.

I hope your life insurance is paided up, but then again, I don't think they pay out for
armed rioters or civilians involved in acts of war.

Oh well, I guess your are just S-O-L, like most gun-nuts here are. :D

What makes you think I will be outside, walking around with it??

Who says I will be near the rioting???

Odds are, if all hell breaks loose, my family is well equipped to live right here in the Appalachian Mountains...We can fish, we can hunt, we can grow our own food, we can heat our home and cook out food with wood....

Won't need to go to town for very many things at all.

If the City folk, rioters, take to the country side to rape in pillage, too bad for them... The Police in my area will not be any trouble, but if "California Cops" start going door to door, to "disarm" everyone, like they did in New Orleans, they will be dead well before they get to my house, so that is not a concern either.

Is anyone who is able to "take care of their own" a member of a militia?

I live 12 miles from town, in the 4th smallest county in the state. We have 4 cops.... sometimes we can't wait for them to show up in an emergency. Some of us have military training, but it wasn't to learn how to shoot or kill... I already knew how to do that LONG before I joined the military.

Some of us just have a strong sense of self reliance.. and a strong sense of survival. It's the "fight or flight" reaction: some of you run, some of us stand our ground and fight for what's ours.

Jeez people, we keep fire extinguishers, and first aid kits, and "hope" we don't ever need to use it..

Some of us keep guns....and hope we will never need to use it.

Protests Over Skyrocketing Fuel Prices Spread to More Countries in Europe

By Kevin Sullivan
Washington Post Foreign Service
Saturday, May 31, 2008; Page A10

LONDON, May 30 -- Protests over spiraling fuel costs spread to many parts of Europe on Friday as fishermen, truckers and farmers marched on government offices, blocked ports and oil depots and even handed out free fish to court public sympathy for their plight.

(....)

In Ireland, dozens of protesting fishermen passed out free haddock and monkfish on Dublin's famous O'Connell Bridge.

The Irish fishermen said they were angry about long-standing government subsidies to fishermen in France, Spain and other European competitors. They said the subsidies put Irish fishermen at a disadvantage that has been made worse by rising fuel prices.

In France, protests continued as farmers blocked two oil depots, near Dijon and Toulouse, with tractors. French truckers staged a "go-slow" demonstration on a major highway near Paris.

Thousands of Italian fishermen also joined the protests Friday, with union leaders predicting shortages of fish in markets and restaurants in coming days.

empty because of strike/blockade.

There's fuel if you can pay the price, gas stations are open; people are protesting the price.

Not the same thing as no fuel.

“Compliance is total. The entire Spanish coast is at a halt,” said Jose Caparros, a spokesman for the fishing industry in Barcelona. Now, there are plans to blockade harbours and stop imports. “From Monday we are going to control the entry of refrigerated containers and everything inside them,” said David Lomba, a 27-year-old fisherman. When asked by a reporter how the fishermen would do that, Lomba said, “By every means possible. They shall not pass.”

24. You are correct. No matter how the gun-nuts claim that they own guns to stop such a thing.....
in accordance with the so-called "second amendment", they would do nothing to stop any such thing from occurring, no matter what they claim on-line from the safety of a keyboard.

They did absolutely nothing when all those people in Texas were rounded up and burned down. They also didn't resist the Fuzz when New Orleans was flooded and people and their guns were rounded up, again.

IMO, we need to be more like Europe, where both the police and the civilians have many fewer firearms available for misuse. Guns bring nothing but trouble, whenever any nincompoop gets hold of a firearm.

As much as I hate the Oil companies I don't want price controls. Let's just get the electric car working and bury them. It will be pretty hard to grow food in the desert when you can't buy it because oil is $1/barrel.

I'd pay $50k for a real electric car (not one I'll die in when some a-hole in a pickup truck hits me) that gets 100 mile range.
