reporters, and writers monitor this site and some have posters here.

...or for real research.

So they rely on news aggregator sites like fark.com.

DU has one advantage over fark and that news stories can be commented on as soon as someone posts them.

On fark, it has to go through a moderator vetting process, which can sometimes slow it down.

I have seen several news stories on DU hours before they hit fark.
