I take a different lesson from Tim Russert's death...
He was 58 years old (4 years younger than I am). There were times when he infuriated me but the one thing that could not be missed was that he loved what he did...he loved what he did and it was pretty clear that he absolutely loved his family.

How many of us can say that? That was my thought today...

I want to get to a point in my life where I love every minute of my life.

I have that sense about him. I think he was a happy, fulfilled man.

This is something that we have to work for...it does not just come to us. My sense is that he found it. Good for him. I think he died doing exactly what he wanted to do ( except for maybe being with his family) and he left much to be emulated.

1. From softballing Cheney to hardballing McClellan
it's hard to make a nonpartisan case for Tim Russert.

Nonetheless he seemed like a decent human being and was respectful to his guests, unlike Billo.

2. I guess I'm over his "politics" and thinking about him as a
regular guy and I am trying to take a lesson from myself from this.

5. Russert wasn't respectful to Howard Dean.
I never forgave Russert for the way he treated Dean.

In fact, I quit watching his show and would always
either change the channel or turn off the tv if he
was ever on.

He was NOT a journalist. He WAS a rightwing shill.

Still, he was a person and so RIP Russert.

4. My Crazy ex-Girlfriend is good friends with his wife.
She says that Russert was a real sweetheart.

Called a few minutes ago, all shook up.

6. What I'm thinking about is how much extra weight he was carrying.

CNN did a feature on health early this morning -- why men won't go to doctors. We women are not immune, either, but believe me, if I weren't setting the appointments, I'm sure my husband would not be as diligent about his health.

The biggest problems men present which are usually totally curable is belly fat and impotence.

Those are precursors for heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

RIP, Tim -- I'm going to the gym in honor of you.

I am now eleven years older than you were.

Peace to your family, friends, and the millions of politically-oriented people who watched you do what you did.

7. It comes as no surprise
that you would focus on such an important point.

Recently, you have noted that your father had a close relationship with JFK. By no coincidence, President Kennedy was invested in the Greek philosophy of life: that it was important to do what was meaningful to you, and to do it to the very best of your ability.

Thank you for adding this OP to the discussion.
