The AP reports that House Oversight Committee Chairman Henry Waxman (D-CA) has threatened to hold EPA administrator Stephen Johnson and OMB official Susan Dudley in contempt of Congress “for their repeated refusal to provide subpoenaed documents to the Committee. The subpoenaed documents involve the White House role in EPA’s ozone standards and rejection of California’s motor vehicle emission standards.” The Committee is scheduled to meet on June 20 to consider the resolution.

A House committee chairman on Friday threatened to hold the head of the EPA and a White House budget official in contempt of Congress for not handing over documents about new smog requirements and a decision blocking California greenhouse gas limits.

Democratic Rep. Henry Waxman of California, chairman of the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee, said he'd hold a vote in his committee next week on a contempt resolution, if he doesn't get the information he wants.

"Therefore, unless the documents are provided to the committee or a valid assertion of executive privilege is made, the committee will meet on June 20 to consider a resolution holding you in contempt," Waxman wrote.

5. Wait a minute - he is at least laying the groundwork for accountability

- and you folks are busting his chops? Remember how bad it was when the republics had a complete majority? They would walk out of meetings - and force dems to hold hearings in the basement. You can only do so much with the razor thin majority dems have right now - but they are getting it started.
